We wish to fly from Bangkok to Beijing.

Has anybody obtained a Tourist Visa for China recently - in Bangkok?

What documents were you asked to submit?

Experience of both British & Indian Passport Holders appreciated

Thanks

Standard non-express service took a little longer than expected- about a week and a half. VERY IMPORTANT: Thais can only stay one week their first trip, and there ain't nothing you can do to extend that once you're in China (unless you're willing to open a bank account there, among many other complex requirements). The one-week rule might be true of India too, make sure to check. If you happen to be in rural West China, I hear the immigration officers there will extend such visas to much longer in just a few hours, but in Beijing etc, the complex requirements hold.

I applied for visa at Embassy in Bangkok...paid express fee...about 1100 baht from memory and collected it the next day ...that was in 2008....all very polite and proper....just take your passport....all the info is on their website

Got one last year. Paid the express fee in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. I don't think they needed anything other than passport, photos and the cash for a tourist visa. Business visa would obviously need more documentation. Fees vary according to nationality with Americans paying the most.
