Hi,

I recently received a single entry visa from the thai embassy in Vientiane. It was only after the visa was granted that i decided to stay longer in Thailand. Is it possible to change the status of a single entry visa to a double entry visa when i arrive in bangkok?

Thanks,

Michael

No. You can extend it by 30 days at Immigration for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

You should have got a double entry in Vientiane, especially as they are free.

No, you cannot. You would have to obtain a new visa from a consulate outside Thailand. However, you could extend your current single entry tourist visa for 30 days by going to any immigration office in Thailand. Fee 1900 baht.

Thanks for the quick response guys.

If I need to extend my single entry visa, can I do this as soon as I land in bangkok or do I have to wait until my initial 60 days are nearly up and then apply for the extension?

Where do I apply for the extension is it at immigration at the airport or at the thai embassy in bangkok?

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.

You can't do it at the airport. There are several immigration offices in Thailand, including Bangkok and other popular places. You need to fill in a form and provide a passphoto.

Normaly you do it somewhere in the last 2 weks of your 60 days, but they might do it sooner.

You have to make the decision about Single or Double before you apply at the embassy.

There is no way to change it later.

The only option is the 30 day extension.
