We are English family of 5.

2 children in International School here - 7 & 6 years. 1 child pre-school 22 months

Father's work permit will expire 31 August 2009, Visa expires on 30 August 2009.

Mother and children were on NON-IMM, now also on 30 day Visa expiring 30 August 2009

Questions

- Can we switch to retirement Visa? Father is 56? With English wife and children dependents on Retirement Visa?

- Do we need to meet THB800k in the bank here for 2 months condition

- Having been here for last 3 years already do we need Police Report? Previously in Vietnam for 6 years

Grateful for any information

Yes you can switch to a retirement extension (not a visa). You need the money in the bank for 60 days or proof of an income of 65 K baht per month proven by a letter from your embassy. No police report needed.

Children and wife can get extensions as dependents after you get the extension based upon retirement.

Children in international schools can get extensions to attend school also. Not sure about the pre school though.

Best option appears to be for you all to make a visa run to to a nearby consulate and get single entry non immigrant O visas. You as being over 50 and family as your dependents. You will marriage and birth certificates to get visas (plus copy). This would give you enough time to have the money in the bank and get the visas.

Another option is to get an extension for you and your wife based upon your children being in school. This requires 500,000 baht in the bank for 30 days. But sometimes immigration only allows for one parent to get the extension.

But in either case you don't have enough time to get it done. So you will need the visas.

See this police order for info on extensions: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/post-a70477-...ember-2008.html
