I wasn't even aware of that camera, impressive. US$1300 - not cheap. Looks like a great system though, esp with the fixed lens.

Assuming you're referring to the GF-1 it isn't a fixed lens.

SLR type compact with interchangeable lenses.

Fixed lens, as in fixed focal length, ie non-zoom.

Otherwise known as a PRIME lens

You have a choice of kit - 20 mm pancake is the popular choice but also can elect a zoom 14-40mm

Later will add

45/2.8 Macro (Pana-Leica) $879

'Fixed lens' is a commonly abbreviated term for fixed focal length lens. Look it up :)

'Prime lens' itself has two meanings as well.

Anyway, I like the idea of this camera with the pancake 20m lens :D

Never been a fan of twisty screen gizmos. I have the G10 and it is great.

I will stay with my G10, but apart from the flip-out screen, and a different Digic processor, what is different to the G7 ?

I thought the very reason they are called prime lens is to avoid such confusion that abbreviation can cause.

I too thought you have mistaken GF-1 to be a camera whose lens is non-interchangeable.
