My wife overstayed one time when we went to Lao. The fine wasn't much and it was no big hastle.

If she had a passport she would get a 30 days for free on entry. You might consider getting her a passport which only costs 1000 baht and only takes about a day to get.

I don't remember exactly but I think was less 100 baht.

Remember to get the border pass it has to be done during the normal goverment working hours.

A Thai passport is 1,000 baht, takes about 3 days to get one. For 30 baht extra they send it to your home.

i get the border pass at the bridge? You know how much?

You can't get one at the bridge. Not sure where the goverment office is. There is a travel agent in front of the bus and van station for transport across the bridge where you can get it. The official fee is 30 baht but an agent will normally charge you 50. She will also need a photo for the border pass.

My girlfriend and i just went there last month, she got her border pass in front of the little busstation ( The busstation is located on the road to Nongkai from the main road to the border on your right hand side) fee 120 THB all together. We stayed there 2 days and no extra cost for her.
