hi there

i have had chronic foot problems for about three years now, akin to a burning sensation on the soles. Both feet become extremely tired and sore only after a short period of standing or walking. Sometimes it feels like blood is pooling in the soles, elevation and ice baths bring some relief.

Back home (OZ) i have had MRI scans, acupuncture, physio, orthotics and nothing has helped. I would like to consult a doctor here in BKK, could anyone recommend one. The feeling of blood pooling is more recent, so i'm wondering if it could be a circulation issue, or some form of gout perhaps. Would a sports medicine doctor be best? or perhaps a podiatrist?

any help would be appreciated

thanx

hi there

i have had chronic foot problems for the last three years. I experience a burning sensation on the soles of both feet, and they feel very sore and tired after standing or walking for only a short time. Back home (OZ) i have had MRI, acupuncture, physio, chiro, orthotics and various forms of medication, and none have helped alleviate the issue.

Recently a feeling akin to blood pooling in my feet has developed, elevation and ice baths bringing some relief. Hence i'm wondering if it may be a circulation problem, or some form of gout. The intangible nature of the phenomena makes me think i need to find some kinda specialist. Does anyone know who i could see, or where i could go here in BKK, to get help. Perhaps a sports doctor?

any help appreciated

thanx

Sounds like Plantar Fasciitis; gout may be an underlying problem so a good idea to have a blood test done to determine uric acid levels.

Other anatomical problems need also be cleared such as "flat feet" or tight achilles tendons which places an extra strain when standing or walking on the plantar fascia structure.

MRIs and the like are usually of little value in the final diagnosis.

The management, if it is a simple case of flat feet would be to get shoes with adequate support for the bridge area of the foot. A good podiatrist is usually a good call.

Search the forum; there has been some discussion before and some posters may be able to assist with referrals or recommendations.

Do you have a lot of stress or anxiety in your life? I have experienced foot problems in the past which seemed to coincide with work related stress situations. Only one way to solve the problem!

deadman,

It does sound like Plantar Fascitis, but of course a podiatrist would have to diagnose it.

How often do you have gout?

If you've had these foot problems for 3 yeas and orthotics are not helping I woul seek out a good, knowledgable podiatrist who has good communication ability (I do not mean language barrier).

I saw several American doctors and a couple SE Asian doctors for my foot problems because I was able to treat my flat fleet and falling arches.
