Red shirts do not condone Jakrapob splinter group

By The Nation

The red shirts do not agree with the communist-leaning strategy adopted by fugitive suspect Jakrapob Penkair, red-shirt co-leader Jatuporn Prompan said on Thursday.

Jatuporn confirmed the red shirts had severed ties with the Jakrapob-led splinter group.

"We want democracy under the King as head of state, therefore our activities are limited to attack Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda or lower figures to prevent an escalating fight trangressing the constitutional monarchy," he said.

Jatuporn said Jakrapob's ally Surachai Danwattananusorn was an ex-communist prone for violent struggle.

Jakrapob and Surachai have formed the splinter group called Red Siam detaching themselves from the mainstream red-shirt movement.

On Tuesday, Jakrapob published his article reprimanding red-shirt co-leaders for misleading the movement to harbour a false hope on the pardon petition.

He said the co-leaders were acting as if they did not have a true understanding about their fight against "Ammat" (bureaucratic polity) which entails more important figures than just Prem.

Jaturporn countered the red shirts had drawn the line in their fight, hinting the Jakrapob splinter group wanted to deviate from the constitutional monarchy.

Jakrapob had no justification to promote his cause by attacking former fellow activists, he said.

If Jakrapob wanted to leave the red shirts, he was free to do so but he should not have tried to burn down his former home, he said.

He voiced suspicion that certain elements within the Pheu Thai Party had secretary supported Jakrapob in a two-faced stragtegy to reap benefits from whichever faction emerged a winner.

He reminded Jakrapob that red-shirt co-leaders were the only people remained by his side when he faced the lese majeste charge.

He also revealed that Jakrapob had abandoned the red shirts and fled to an undisclosed location even before the state of emergency during the Songkran mayhem.

"Individuals like Jakrapob and Surachai are living in the past without realising that the communist ideology is no longer applicable to the modern world," he said.

Reacting to Jatuporn's remarks, Surachai said the red shirts and the splinter group shared the same goal inspite of having differences about tactical means.

The Red Siam and the red shirts led by three co-leaders will have to prove which side is more determined to win and which will fall along the way, he said

Jakrapob and the Siam Reds are now the first openly and unashamedly pro People's Republic of Thailand loose cannon component that always has been at the core of the Thai Rak Thai party to go public since its outset in 1998-99 while I was in Thailand.

From its inception, the Thai Rak Thai party always had had as its fundamental and core aim, goal and purpose the establishing of a People's Republic of Thailand. The People's Republic of Thailand was to have been led and controlled by one party TRT rule. And guess who the Dear and Great Leader and 'President' of of the great and wonderful People's Republic of Thailand was always going to be??

Indeed and predictably the question answers itself because the TRT had already developed the formula to get Thaksin in power as the leader of Thailand and, once having established the TRT as the unchecked one and only party government, to further his and the TRT member's wealth by the means of controlling and directing the Thai economy for their own lawless gain and great wealth.

It was to have been Thailand Incorporated owned and controlled by TRT and the process had indeed been well underway before it was decisively decapitated in September of 2006. That month was of course the turning point against "Chairman" (President) Taksin and the TRT and its dastardly design to create the new one party, state-corporate People's Republic of Thailand owned and operated exclusively by the TRT.

We saw the first steps in this direction once the TRT front man and bossman Thaksin grabbed power. Once in power, Thaksin and his TRT-PRT gang set out systematically and by design and purpose to shred the 1997 Constitution of its major feature hailed globally, the radically new system of checks and balances central to the document and introduced to Thailand for the first time. Recall it was the Democrat Party led coalition of Chuan Leekpai who won approval of the 1997 Constitution and put it in place.

Once the People's Commissar Thaksin, as he viewed himself, demolished the 1997 Constitution the TRT were free to run amok in its one party dominance of the government.

Indeed we witnessed firsthand the results of the TRT-PRT one party dominance of government and of its state-corporate directed economy from its locus of control, i.e., the TRT in government power. Integral to the plan was to destroy existing civil liberties in Thailand (as they feebly existed). Democracy was made into a complete mockery. The personality cult of Thaksin was promoted and 'elevated' to the point that even in the present, in the distant and on the run absence of Thaksin from Thailand, his worshipers continue to turn out for him (paid or otherwise).

So now Jakrapob and a group of exasperated hard core People's Republic of Thailand advocates have come out of the closet to openly become known and openly to present their hidden agenda of these many years since TRT was formed during the closing months of the 20th century.

Jakrapob is seeking to draw many more of the like minded Red Shirts to this open and unabashed cause, i.e., to create by any and all violent means necessary (as they see it) to begin openly their determined and long closeted drive to create the People's Republic of Thailand.

I know I'm slow because it took me until about 2006 to see this inherent purpose and goal of the TRT crowd. It's been an open secret until it became open knowlege and the fact now that Jackrapob & Co have openly emerged from the present chaos to, as they see it, draw the ideological line to clarify the situation.

Jakrapob is more clearly drawing the battle lines but one suspects Jatuporn and other TRT stalwarts are not anywhere near prepared to do the same now any more than they ever were, hence the highly public denials and demunications that Jatuporn and Co make of Jakrapob and his presently rump group. Regardless, who could or should trust either?

Am I right i thinking that Jakrapob is out of the country evading Lesse Majeste charges?

Please excuse me if I am wrong.

Yes he is, amongst other pending charges.

Jakrapob's new myth

What is Jakrapob Penkair up to? That's the most fascinating question of the hour.

For those who haven't read what he controversially wrote in "Naew Ruam Red" magazine, here's a brief summary:

Jakrapob thinks the "three buddies", the current leaders of the red shirted movement, are going astray. The on-going "fight for democracy", he says, requires thorough thinking and extreme patience, not rabble-rousing or provocation that might yield short-term results but would weaken the campaign in the long run.

Veera Musigapong, Nattawut Saikua and Jatuporn Promphan have been alluded to as a "monkey show".

"They [still] let you lead because it provides the only opportunity for mass gatherings. They use your stage for a course much more profound than yours. People go to watch a monkey show because it's fun, but that doesn't mean they believe the monkeys," Jakrapob said.

He asked the red-shirted movement to stop believing that Thaksin can return home. Jakrapob warned that Thaksin would be surely assassinated if he did come back.

"To seek justice from those specializing in the game of keeping power is much more difficult than getting a bone out of a dog's mouth," he said.

So Jakrapob, who fled at the end of the Songkran turbulence and gave an interview defending the act of violence from his exile, now is in favor of a prolonged, sustained fight for democracy?

In another interview with the BBC shortly after Songkran, he even claimed the red shirts were being driven into a corner and "the room for unarmed and non-violent means to resolve Thailand's problem is getting smaller every day."

Now he's saying misled red followers could walk straight to their doom. Some of the red leaders have been "cheated" before and now are leading millions into the same deception, Jakrapob wrote.

With him and Thaksin hiding separately, we can't draw a solid conclusion.

Either he is trying to present himself as the only one really loyal to Thaksin and to the current course, or his adamant insistence that Thaksin would be better off remaining in exile carries a subtle, hidden message about the two men's relations.

I think Thaksin's intent was never more obvious than the economic zone they were setting up for Suwarabhumi Airport. Several districts were to have been annexed from Bangkok and it was to have been controlled only by Thaksin and his cronies. No elections were to take place for at least 8 years. If building the airport was a license to steal, you can only imagine what operating the airport and surrounding districts would have been like.

Jakrapob joined Thaksin only in 2003.

The original TRT strategists are rather quiet now, I have no idea who they would choose between Jakrapob and Jatuporn and co. I think they are smart enough to realise that the fight is over, TRT isn't coming back, time to put it behind and start looking into the future, and their careers in politics are over.

If they return to politics various reds will haunt them forever with all kinds of requests or accusations, and I don't think they have enough energy and power to re-create "think new, act new" party that will capture people's imagination.

Maybe one or two out of them or their new generation followers will eventually emerge as an alternative to PTP and Democrats. God knows, they might even group with PAD party and create a movement of people against politicians. New "new politics", so to speak. That kind of movement is certainly on the cards, Abhisit is the last chance to prove the "old politics" might just work, but he is alone in the sea of sharks and all those Newin inspired scams are already annoying.

IMO it's just a smart move in case they plan to create a mess, to blame it on the "third party", everybody is talking about so much the last couple of days. So good timing to distance one from the "other red shirts", so you can openly condemn them after for their acts. Just in case they try to start some unrest, Thaksin can say that these guys have nothing to do with his "struggle for Democracy", but are acting totally on their own. Don't forget he likes the big show after all...

IMHO I think the posts to this thread, short as it is at this point, demonstrate why Thaksin and his Red Shirts have to send lackies and mouthpieces to TVF to try to counter the many threads and the posts to them.

Whether the posts contain literary allusions or straightforward prose, or opinions or facts, wit or whatever, Thaksin and his gang are thoroughly undressed in public here and exposed as the frauds and schemers they are.

One thing I noticed about Thaksin while he was PM was that he consistently spoke to the world as if he were speaking to the peasants of Issan (bless 'em). Thaksin's been getting his bottom singed at this site so much and so often that he has to do something to respond yet he and his underlings cannot do it successfully.

There's too much individual knowlege and collective insight and analysis here for Thaksin and his crowd to handle.

Again, IMHO.

Had the Red Shirts not turned to violence during Songran, Jaturporn's attempt to distance his Red Shirts from Jakropob's Red Shirts may have been successful. Now, any violence and the view will be a Red Shirt is a Red Shirt.

Funny they choose color “RED” for their symbols. The color of blood and violence :)

Red notoriously is the color of revolution as in the instance of the PRC; the former USSR etc.

As I recall Thaksin used the word during the Pattaya debacle.

Red is also the colour of Santa Claus, a Whiskey label, tomato ketchup, 'Lady in Red' - a song of Chris de Burgh and the nose of Rudolph the Reindeer is red too.

Red is a traditional chinese symbol for fortune and happiness.

and RED is even part of the Thai Flag.

Throw the word "communist" (as in somebody who threatens the Puu Yai's hold on power over the masses) around in LOS and the big boys guns will soon come out to show who's really in charge.

Well now I'm totally confused.

Red shirts / UDD say they want quality democracy, same in the worlds most developed countries.

Then they also say they have the same aim as jakrabob, who now aligns himself with an old communist group.

Well which is it?

The truth probably is that they are all being totally manipulated by toxin.

First they all just wanted to get toxin back, then suddenly the UDD claim they are the champions of democracy, totally manipulated by toxin the clever (but nasty and immoral) strategist.

Toxin of course also suddenly changed his 'values' and suddenly started talking his head off about how he is the champion of democracr for Thailand, which of couse totally conflicts with his comments and ravings when he was the dictatorial 'leader'.

I totally agree that Thailand desperataly needs to get into a much more equitable picture of democracy but I am totally unconvinced that this is really the aim of the UDD.

Hopefully one day the red shirts will see that they are being massively manipulated.

Hopefully, also, coming soon the masses of Thailand will stop being lazy and stop voting for and reject the incapable people of the past, and only vote for honest sincere and capable people who do exist and want to contribute but right now don't want to get involved with the leeches and thugs who currently have control of Thailand (the people who we currently call politicians).
