Purchasing Thai Language Teaching Aides

Hi. I will be in Bangkok in about 2 weeks. I was wondering where I could find a store that sells materials for teaching the Thai language. I am looking for things like Alphabet and Vowel charts. Also workbooks for various grade or learning levels. The materials I would be interested in are those for teaching Thai to Thais and not for specifically teaching a Farang.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

One of the best places to find books used for teaching language to Thai children is the store called "Suksaphan" (ศึกษาภัณฑ์). It is located right at the Democracy Monument in Bangkok and is diagonally across from a well-known restaurant named Sohn Daeng (The Red Arrow).

Suksaphan is an enormous store which carries all manner of textbooks used by teachers and schools all over the country. Any taxi driver ought to be able to take you to the store, or at least, to the Democracy Monument. Some of the staff at the store speak English and can help you with your choices.

Best of luck.

Yes, I'll second that.

ศึกษาภัณฑ์ sueksaphan literally means "study supplies", and is a school supply, textbook and other book store run by the Ministry of Education.

The branch at Democracy Monument (referred to on their website as the Ratchadomnern Branch) is the main branch and most well-known, because that's right where the MOE is located. But there are other branches throughout Greater Bangkok (page is in Thai):
