I like to think its a partnership but that is b***sh*t... she wears them... I have another problem...

My Thai misses doesn't believe anything i say..and i don't mean about gigs or other woman but just general things that are built into me as a (farang?) male.

some examples

Yesterday the aircon developed a drip so i said i would have a look and she is "no no..you don't know..."

So i've waited for her to go and i've fixed it...... just a loose connection.....

The tyres need blowing up thats why the steering wheel is wobbling a bit and pulling to one side..and she is "no no..you don't know..."

Stop at a garage and blow em up to the right pressure...job fixed.....

little things that are easy to fix or to have a look at but she is always thinking you have to get a specialist to fix these things and you cannot DIY..

I am left wondering if this is a Thai trait and that "specialists" are called into fix everything and no one knows how to do DIY jobs..

This is off topic but it sprung to mind when i started typing and so hey ho......

Sadly for me I am always wrong in everything I say or do . I dont know anything about anything in her eyes and like you, if theres a problem with anything, I am not allowed to fix it. We argue and I am then called Hot Head , mai dee , as well as F*in Ar*ole, I trained her well in English. So what I do now is just agree with her as she likes to do the repairs herself. I double check on what she has done when shes not around and to be honest she does a fairly good job.

But also when she wants to be inquisitive , lets say asking "where is Paris " I say something like - In Hollywood Sunning herself I think ,and walk off :)

She is none the wiser regardless :D

I think that perhaps she is trying to spread your wealth to her fellow Thais and at the same time saving face by you not doing manual work. The consquences of you doing the job yourself would mean that she cannot afford the 'hired men' in the eyes of her peers.

Among her staff my wife has a rep for being a hard arsed bitch but with me she's the easiest going person I've ever met. When I go to her workplace you can almost see the sympathetic "You poor bastard" look on the staffs' faces.

I trust that she does not say "no no you don't know" when you are in bed. :)

As soon as I accepted my role and the old, smelly, stupid, bald, etc. farang, life is good. What can someone expect from such a useless creature (other than regular deposits). I've tried to make sure anything I touch or do around the house goes wrong. After 20+ years of a Honey Do list I now live without one. If I decide to rise from my stupor and try to get my way around the house I make sure I'm going to win. Decisive battle and then get out of the way.

My stock answer to complaints; who's more stupid - a stupid farang or a woman who marries a stupid farang?

All and all it's about a close to bliss with a woman as I can imagine and wouldn't trade it for anything. But then I'm stupid so what do I know...

Spot on.

I have been told that I never do it right, ( including mopping the floor or rinsing out a glass ) so I decided that I wouldn't do it at all. Phuck it.

She'll get it fixed and I resume my daily activities of total relaxation.

It's a hard life being stupid. One of which I throughly enjoy.

Same here, wife is the boss.... miss the days in the US....

I fixed every thing around the house to in the US, but in Thailand.... "whitey" lost that ability too. Thais just freak out when they see whitey perform labor....

Then again, ask me to pick rice, and I would have to say "NO"

That's funny, good one.

Another good one, I will have to remember this one. It made me smile and laugh. Good one too.

I have made it a rule that there is no trouser wearing in the house. She is strictly forbidden to wear any when we are home, except if we have visitors. :)

She insists she does all the cleaning and washing. I occasionally wash the dishes. When I come back from work, she tells me to go sit on my ass, drink beer and smoke. Suits me.

This must be compensated for, of course. I am expected to do my husbandly duties. :D Suits me also...

Quite a few lilly-livered mice on here. Such relationships I can do without. Any relationship worth anything should involve equal power sharing and consensus decision making. If I wanted a lady boss, I woukld go back to my home country.

I think most of the replies were tongue in cheek with a preportionate amount of sarcasm. :)

My FIL (thai) had the entire family convinced he was hopeless for doing small repair jobs, planting of any crop (crooked row, too deep, to shallow, etc) We used to get quite a chuckle as we watched the work going on while drinking our cool one or 4. I watched him repair, carburetor on his motorbike, water pumps, etc with no one around. The woman do seem to have quite a disdain for the male specie having any real worth, but will hire a male to do what they have determined we are not capable of. Mention of, support the local economy, loss of face if husband does manual labor, probably have some influence on them but I propose that a goodly percentage just want to be seen as being the dominate one in the family. Wives/girl friends seem to progress each year of a relationship in the same way as their schooling. Each year a little better learned, better at achieving goals, know what they can get by with and still maintain their status, better at working the system, etc. Many eventually get to the point they attempt to modify the male/system to better suit their current flavor of the month. It would be a very boring place without them and they seem to have picked up on that thought quite nicely, so lay back and enjoy.
