Student Visa - Can You Get A Wp

Anyone know if you can apply and get a work permit on a student visa?

Are you on an extension of stay or a visa?

The rules state that all that is needed to get a work permit is a non immigrant visa. But most labor offices will not issue them if you have a ED visa or extension based upon going to school. The reason being that you cannot go to school and work at the same time.

But I understand that they are exceptions made when the job is part of the schools curriculum.

What you would probably have to do is apply for the work permit and then go out and get a B visa using the WP3 (work permit application receipt).
