True Visions Digital Satelite Tv

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of switching from True Visions analog TV to True Visions digital service (DStv). Anyone tried it? Is it a better picture?

I have a 40 inch HDTV (1080P) and the picture I get is pretty bad.

Thanks :)

Same crap

Same crap

Have you tried it?

Yes I own a DStv dish and reciever

I watch it on a 37in Lcd and pic is crap, Where is the digital?

The bigger you go the worse it gets, Save your money!

I'm not sure but to me looks like pixal is 720x480

Not even close to 1080

What is the 'analogue' truevisions.. Do you mean cable ??

The DStv sat is fugly.. You forget how bad until you look at Euro PAL broadcasts (even non HiDef) and it looks crystal clear.. Then step up to 720 or FullHD and its just laughable what we pay here..

I quite agree. We have regular satellite here (in Bangkok) from True and I just bought a 50" plasma. So far, True is truly disappointing!

I have both True Visions from a dish and from a cable. Both are digital. As far as i know, digital is all they offer.

Certainly was when i signed up.

Can you explain your question in more detail?

The word Digital does not imply quality, sad to say.

If the material placed on the digital signal is low resolution,

then that is all you will get out at the other end. :)

Garbage in, Garbage out as we say in the computer world, and that is all Digital as well!!

The original cable system in Bangkok was analog and it is still in use. It was always fiber optic up to local area so not a big problem changing to digital but instead of providing insentaves they chose to charge huge fees to customer - and then high rental of equipment that should be free - expect most on analog stayed on analog.

OK. So are you saying that people who are on analogue are people who signed up many moons ago?

Cos when i first signed up more than ten years ago i was never given a choice between analogue or digital.

How much do people who are still on analogue have to pay to switch to digital?

I never changed and have dropped them completely and using local service with 80 channels. I do remember it was very expensive as there were fees involved and a monthly rental for each decoder (we had four) - the analog had no monthly decoder fee. It was called UTV in those days. When combined with IBC it changed to UBC. And now called True.
