Ive been staying in Thailand for about 4 years now for healing purposes. At first i did the 30-day visa runs and then settled with doing the 60-day tourist visas with the 30-day extensions after the rules changed. Now with the new crackdown on back-to-back tourist visa applicants, it looks as though i may not get another tourist visa or even another extension on my current visa. In the past ive always checked the "tourist" box on the immigration card which of course isnt my real purpose for being in Thailand, primarily because "healing" is not an option. When crossing the boarder the immigration officers will sometimes ask what im doing here. "Tourist" of course is what i say. Ive never tried telling them my real reason for being here because i dont know how they would react. Does the Thai government have anything against tourists who come here for healing purposes?

I doubt they'd even know what you mean. What exactly do you mean by "healing purposes"? Healing from what?

A lot of people are "healing" from bad relationships back at home. It's often called sex tourism.

Surviving is more like it. Due to having a nerve disorder with Raynard's syndrome i am unable to live in cool climates.

As i go around to different doctors trying new techniques i havent done any significant healing but rather have only preserved my life span.

Why Don't you apply for the One-Year-Non-Immigrant-Type-O Visa with Multiple entries??? This will allow you to stay in Thailand for up to 15 x 30 days (15 months) with visa run/border run every 90 days. Apply from Hull (England), Perth or Brisbane (Australia) - Reason: Visiting Friends/Relatives. Cost: US$175.00.

So i can get the One-Year-Non-Immigrant-Type-O Visa with Multiple entries only in England and Australia and not in Loas? What other reasons are there besides Visiting Friends/Relatives. Any requirements other than 175 USD?

Ive met a few elder Thai women who treat me like their son. ไม่ใช่แม่ยกนะครับ Does anyone know the procedure for adoption?

The ED visa is a good idea if you are willing to live in one of the Thai cities with schools that offer programs that will qualify you for that. Also, if a warm climate is all you seek, you could quite easily live indefinitely visa-wise in CAMBODIA. The Philippines is also possible, but more of a visa hassle than Cambodia. In other parts of the world I think it is possible to live using visa runs in some central American countries, nice and warm there also.

Whats it like in Cambodia? Ive never been there. It seems fairly corrupt based off of my experience making visa runs at the boarder. What kind of visas are available for Cambodia?

So visiting friends/family is not permitted for a tourist visa? Does Vientiane not give out Non-immigrant O visas?

The other option is becoming a monk. I would probably get a Non-immigrant R visa but the question is, what would happen if i returned to lay life?
