As I understand it a passport is required since the bilateral 30 day visa free stays were introduced in December 2004.

I thought that some legislation came into effect this February whereby Thais only need an ID card.

My friend has misplaced her passport and we plan to go to Laos in May.

Anybody know if her Thai ID is sufficient for her to go in and out of Laos?

she need only have her thai id...and can get a 3 day border pass . needs to fill in the required form + a passport photo......extra days cost extra bt
