Microwave Repair Shop In Phuket Town Or South

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a reliable microwave oven repair shop in Phuket town or south.

My LG microwave oven went pop yesterday, but the warranty expired 2 1/2 years ago. :)

I've already bought another one but want to get the old one fixed so I can give it to the g/f's parents.

Aren't they cheap enough just to buy the gf's family a new 1000 baht special? Unless the repair is a simple one, you're likely to get the " we need to get the parts from BKK" line which instantly makes it not worth it to repair.

Plus you won't get any sort of repair guarantee. Best buy a cheap new one.

I got mine fixed at the electronics repair shop in basement of Big C. Cost about 200 baht, I think.

Thanks for all the replies - and the PM. If/when I find a shop that does a good job, I'll post about it here.

I had a TV go pop a year or so ago - an old CRT type, not plasma or anything like that - and took it to a TV repair guy on Vised road near the muslim area. He put a new power supply in it and it's been going strong ever since - 800 baht. He also fixed a floor standing fan that stopped working - 300 baht.

I like using the local repair guys as they often do a good job for a fair price, even though I can easily afford to throw the broken item away and buy new.

Talking about local repair guys, I wrote about a car body repair guy here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Recommendati...t&p=2611139 , and said that he'd gone. Well, now he's back! I was changing my gas cylinder at the shop a little further south from his old garage, and I saw him coming over to me with a big grin on his face so we had a re-union of sorts. He's now got the premises next door to his old place. Same phone number as in original post. Nice bloke, excellent work.

Regarding buying a new microwave, I did that already - had to get my "Mr India" curry defrosted in a hurry :) - and got another LG on promotion for 2,400 baht at Home Pro in the Villa Park in Chalong. It's exactly the same size as the one that went pop, looks the same inside but has electro-mechanical controls rather than digital. If it lasts 3 1/2 years like my other one did, it'll be good value for money.

Can you be a little bit more specific about the location of this TV repair shop. I too have a TV I need to repair and this would appear to be close to home.

OK, but i can only be a bit vague tonight as I've been there just four times (TV & fan, drop and collect), and all these places look the same to me!

As far as I can remember, it's slightly north (100m?) of the silly bit of narrow road (the bit that the owner won't sell and there's a big red flashing arrow sign - now bent - warning traffic heading south to keep right). It's on the left side heading north, just a single shop with loads of old TVs inside. If you go slowly by bike, you should find it, but it's right in amongst a lot of similar shops.

I'll try to find it again tomorrow and give a better location.

There's also a good car electrics repair man up that way. He's also on the left, heading north. His unremarkable house/repair shop is about 10 metres past a blue "Cycle lane" sign. I recall he has an advertising sign leaning against an electric pole at ground level. The house has got some Chinese writing on the wall.

I would not consider repairing a microwave oven. But would do so to give to my in-laws!

<snip>

His shop is four lamp posts up (north) from the narrow bit of road. Currently, he has a couple of TVs outside.
