Marriage Visa

Recommended Posts

I know this topic has been beaten to death but to satisfy my thai wife, i will bring it up again.

If I apply for one year marriage extension, does it allow me to work, or do I still have to go through the regular work permit process.

My understanding is that I still have to apply for a work permit, but do not have to apply for a business Visa.

However, my wife feels that I automatically get a work permit, meaning that a company doesnt have to sponsor me..or something like that. She claims that the rules have recently been changed.

I am pretty sure that I am correct, but some reassurance would be nice.

But you do/may have one advantage in that the money paid only has to meet the support Thai wife requirements rather than the nationality requirements. Believe it is also easier for employer to hire you; but not sure if that is a new change or not (hate to say the wife is wrong - that gets you into all kinds of trouble). :o
