Hi all,

I went to the Royal Thai Consulate General in Brisbane today which is Farlung friendly with a visa application correctly filled out for a Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visa which is good for 12 months and I was immediately asked if I have a Thai wife, apartment, business, etc.

I said that I was visiting friends and was told that they can’t issue this kind of visa unless I have the above requirements. They then asked if I was over 50 – lol - which I’m not.

The lady in the other room also confirmed that they couldn’t issue the Non Immigrant visa as well as it’s not a Tourist Visa.

So I was issued with a Tourist visa which is good for three entries.

I’m just wondering if the Non Immigrant visa has been tighten up and no longer allowed for “visiting friends”

Cheers

Do hope that your Tourist visa is good for entry at least six months. At least with two local extensions you could stretch a stay to almost nine months.

Brisbane gives you 6 months validity with more than one TR entry.

I applied for the same Non-Imm multiple entry 1 year in Bahrain, they would only give me a 3 month multiple entry.

I have to visit Perth next week, wonder if they will give a 1 year visa?

I think you'll find Perth office requesting the same conditions as Brisbane, requiring proof of Thai spouse or business details.

The last couple of applications I've made there, I have had to show Spouse details and her I.D. details etc.

Good Luck.

MFA Bangkok are on 'em all.

I don't think "visiting friends" was ever an activity for which non-immigrant visas were granted. Like the ladies asked, having family or business ties would qualify.

Looks like Air Ais need a new service Pattaya Hull

If anyone should need a reason for visting Kingston claim to be an ex gf of 2 jags Johnny he needs all the friends he can get since I crossed him off my croquet parties.

I think the general tenor is our Siamese hosts are thinking is are they real tourists ?

Do they like sex and travel

F off to other places i

Whatever the justice and merits of individual claims to stay inc permanent residents unless you are a Thai passport holder born here with only a sprinkle of Jin Haw ior CheowChao clan n the closet you are a very low priority .

To Rich hi so who regard Falang and Kek Soi dogs as sexpat scum

Middle classes and grads who see educated westeners as competitors and

peasants who believe rrabid NATIONalism spewed daily by people who do know better but dont care,

Rejoice be thankful you are not being towed out to sea or whipped by JJ or falsely imprisoned for revealing the truth

Off course US and UK treat Thais as almost inferior as Indians/pakistanis or Austalins. Not quit making the cut in the genetic lottery

i recall Bayswater B+Bs with jolly ads No irish ,Blacks or DSS( a uk term for dole bludgers)

The Brits really have way with words as the old sign nr the Shanghai Bund gardensaid

"No Dogs or Chinese"

If you are not 50 and you do not fulfil any of the above mentiond, they can't give you a Multible-O-Visa. This are the conditions set from Thailand.

Have you had recent experience of this? If so, how should the sponsor letter read?

Members are still reporting successful applications. You do not need a sponsor letter. Just fill the form in.

Hull breaches the MFA rules most of the time. The day of reckoning will come.

Just recived my 3rd concurrent multiple O visa from Hull last week, for visiting friends no supporting documents required.

I don't want to make things any more difficult than they need to be but I have the application form from the Hull consulate in front of me and it clearly says on page 4 of the Visa Application Completion Notes that category "O" needs a marriage certificate or pension book or sponsor letter. Maybe it would be safer to include one (ie a letter)? However, it also says, somewhat confusingly, extra evidence is required only for non-immigrant visas catergories "B" and "Ed". Would it be a good idea to e-mail them and see what they say?

So, Perth and Brisbane may not be the foreigner friendly visa factory they once were?

Perth is a lot friendlier because it's about 7,000 baht chearper by air on AirAsia, and that's not taking the Gold Coast to Brisbane extra travel into consideration.
