I just posted a trip report here:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Chaengwattan...ri-t302394.html

But I have a specific question and thought I should start another thread.

I now have an Extension of Stay for Retirement stamp good until 7 October, 2010.

Multiple entry visa says the same thing.

However, there is no cancellation stamp on the expiring Non Imm O visa. Also, they did not remove the TM6, showing I arrived 10 July, 2009, and the 90 stamp requiring me to leave on 7 October is still there.

They did staple a notification reminding me I must report my address by 25 December to satisfy my Extension of Stay requirememnts.

If I should leave the country before 25 December using my new multiple entry visa, will immigration at BKK recognize my new visa supercedes my old one, so I will not be hit with an overstay?

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Hoping I don't have to take another trip out to CW, just to sort this.

Cheers,

Twin

You do not have a Multi Entry Visa.

You have a twelve month extension plus a Re Entry Permit.

Everything is OK.

If you leave before 25th December your 90 day report date starts again when you return.

As said - you have an extension of stay and a re-entry permit. On departure the TM.6 will be collected - if you do not leave it remains in passport forever (mine is 5 years old cardboard type). When you enter country after travel you put the re-entry permit number in the visa area of the new TM.6.

You also need to write the number of your TM.6 on your 90-day report.

You might also do two things with the TM.6:

-- xerox or scan it and stick it in a folder marked "Immigration Stuff;"

-- write the TM.6 number down and stick that piece of paper in the same folder.

This just in case you lose the form, that way Immigration can easily give you a replacement with the same #. What they'll do is just pull out a new form, scratch out the # and write in the old #. They can also look it up on their computer but why not make it easy for them.

Also, xerox each and every page of your passport, make it easy on yourself just in case you lose your passport, easier for your embassy to give you a new one, and for Thai Immigration to replace your "permission to stay" stamps in the new passport.
