October 3, 200916 yr Hi guys, Wanted to get some advice about the online application for UK visa. The questions that ask, 'how long are you planning to stay in the UK for and on what date will you be leaving the UK' need to be answered as what when you are planning to settle in the UK?!! My partner and I are applying for an un-married partner settlement visa but I don't know if this is a trick question?!! I thought settlement meant that we wanted to stay?!! Or do I need to show dates of any times we might plan to go back to Thailand on holiday!!? I am already confused, was much easier when everthing was done on paper!! Hopefully one of the succesful ones can shed some light on this! Thanks
October 4, 200916 yr Are you sure you are filling in the correct form? The settlement form (VAF4A) does ask on what date the applicant wishes to travel to the UK; but does not ask how long they intend to stay nor when they intend to leave. I think you must be filling in a non-settlement form by mistake.
October 4, 200916 yr Odd. The link above is from the VAC website, but the link from UKBA leads to the same form, dated Dec 2008. I haven't tried an online form, though. If it does now ask these questions, then I would answer thus: How long are you planning to stay in the UK for? Indefinitely. On what date will you be leaving the UK? Unknown.
October 4, 200916 yr You have to put the dates in to move forward with the application. Add in extra information you have inserted a random date to leave however she is settling in the UK. That should cover it.
October 5, 200916 yr A few months ago the online form did not ask for date of travel! I downloaded the VFA4A and compared it to the online form, and sure enough, online form did not ask for a travel date.
