It sickens me that decent, seemingly hardworking British citizens like the OP are treated this way by our current government, while at the same time they are letting all manner of scum come crawling through the channel tunnel and welcoming them with open arms, asylum they don't need and benefit packages based on how fast they can spawn.

Incorrect. There are UKBA staff based at Calais specifically to stop illegals from smuggling themselves into the UK. Whilst they do find and stop many, there is, of course, no way of knowing how many get through. Unfortunately, French law means that any they do find have to be released back into France; so they can try again.

Illegal immigrants do not get any benefit packages; they are illegal and if they tried then they would be arrested and removed. Asylum seekers are a different case.
