Importing A Bike To Malaysia

Featured Replies

Is it possible to import Thai registered bikes into Malaysia? I know of the hassles from this board of importing to Siam, but how about the other way? I did a search but I couldn't find much that's pertinent, so is there anyone out there who's done it? At least I won't have to worry about tinted windows... And I'm talking about permanent exporting, for use in Malaysia, not just a tourist visit. I can sell the Hondas Steed and Dream, but if it's easy enough to import... Cheers!

No worth the hassle, better and more varied choice of bikes in Malaysia without all the green book real plate headache, get yourself a new kTM, nice.....

Are the Jap bikes more expensive in Malaysia than in LOS? Last year at Sepang, Ducatis were about 200k THB more expensive than here.

Big bikes are more expensive in Malaysia than Thailand. If you want to save money my suggestion is to buy new bike in Singapore and you can ride in malaysia. just have to ride down once a year for inspection and paperwork

Its not financially reasonable to import bike from Thailand to Malaysia. You are taking an overpriced bike into a country which has even higher import tariffs than the one you are coming from

SnS.. can you do the same as the the Singapore bike with a Thai reg bike as well?

So all the ASEAN stuff is all nonsense when it comes to importing/exporting from these countries? Par for the course, I suppose!

I thought it might be cheaper to sell the vehicles in Thailand first, and then buy 2nd hand in Malaysia. After using them on a tourist import for a bit, though...

Although the big bikes (>200cc ?) may be more expensive to buy in Malaysia than here, is it safe to assume there are more reputable mechanics there? Over here, you have to run the gauntlet until you can find one you trust!

And as for cars, it is boring Proton rather than Japanese or "exotic" European in Malaysia, too?

Cheers!
