Just because gold has nearly doubled in price to more than $1,060 on commodity markets, local gold dealers have increased their prices also. Given the slide of the UD$ it is no surprise to many that the price has gone up. The folk who control the THB have not caught up with the pile of reading on their desk and still have the THB almost in lock step with the US$, so yes the gold price in THB will be going up for some time yet. Rimmer Posted October 15, 2009 Author Share Posted October 15, 2009 Gold shops to be monitored Due to the record rise in the price of gold, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutham Chaosrithong, Deputy Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, announced on the 14th October that in order to deter theft and burglary, gold and jewelry shops in Pattaya will be given extra protection and monitoring by officers and volunteers. Officers will visit shops to make sure that their security such as CCTV equipment is functioning correctly.
