My regular pharmacist (Know him well, Jomtien) told me not to carry Kamagra et al.

He said police have been arresting people in the area for posession starting this week.

His english is not too good but he went on to say something about the Bangkok police coming down here enacting this.

just an FYI

Thanks for the heads-up. I will pass the message on to fellow ex-pats who use/carry the stuff.

I don't need it yet, but I think that is due to the fact I drink bottled Chang.

Syd sorry, from all your previous posts thought it would be because you were too tight to pay for it

Do you mean any of the erection drugs, or just the Kamagra brand?

What a silly thing for the police to hassle falang over. Honestly. They could get a lot more money if they stuck to random bar raids that included drug testing and checking for underage sex workers. Busting the balls of an older gent who needs a little help, it out of line.

If what the OP says is true whats next on the list for being arrested or fined for, room door caved in and arrested for watching a pirate dvd, carted off down Beach Road to police station for wearing a copy T Shirt, arrested at music cd stall for daring to buy a pirated copy of Cliff Richard, mind you IMO if you do buy his cd's you need arresting. :D

I hope it's not true because if it is I'll feel sorry for all those guy's who rely on things such as kamagra to help them perform in the arms of their loved ones... :)

Well, here's a tactic. Carry only ONE dose. If the fuzz arrives, just swallow it. If still put in the pokey, should make for a really interesting first night ...

...........if still in the pokey..??? yep thats me on half a bluey, nice one :)

...........or is 'pokey'slang for a certain part of the female anatomy.... :D

There were plenty of stories a year or so ago about people arriving at the bus station in Bangkok getting randomly searched by cops, and if they were found to have any prescription medicines without a prescription they were carted off and fined. These things seem to go in phases, as I've not heard that tale for a while now. This is the first I've heard of it in Pattaya, though.

^ Yep, agree. Many stories of guys being searched at Bangkok bus stations for prescription drugs and when they can't provide the prescription it is suggested a certain amount of Baht will make the problem go away.

First time in Pattaya as far as I know. The word must have got round in BKK so now they are having a go in the provinces. Nice...

I dont know if this is coincidence, but a group of 3 Pattaya Policemen were body searching a shaven headed bloke who was stepping out of the pharmacy on Soi Diana. He seemed agitated. Why do so many young blokes (under 40) need Viagra?

From your description of the shaven headed "gentleman" i would hazard a guess he is trying to forestall the onset of brewer's droop.

Or maybe he's a tight g*t and wants to make sure he gets his money's worth.

Actually I think it's a scam between the bar girls "oh darkling, old man last night he horny too mutt he not let me sleep" and the pharmacists selling the fake stuff.

"Why do so many young blokes (under 40) need Viagra?"

It has nothing to do with "need", but you might want to consider the "recreation" angle as an answer to your question.

Quote from the above article: "Many healthy young men with normal sexual functioning are asking their general physicians for Viagra"

I asked a friend in his mid 40s if he had tried the new Kamagra Gel -- His answer was "Yes! - my wife loved it and sent me out for more"

( I hope I don't have to explain that the wife was NOT the one consuming the Gel . . :) )

Most people will not admit to needing it. Why even mention that you don't lol.

Viagra is sildenafil citrate. Kamagra is sildenafil citrate.

Kamagra is produced legally in India to help provide the poorer countries with an alternative to the overpriced Pfeizer brand but essentially it's exactly the same.

I cannot comprehend why the police would arrest people for carrying Kamagra when it is sold in just about every pharmacy in town. Why not just raid all the suppliers.

The story sounds a bit fishy.

"I cannot comprehend why the police would arrest people for carrying Kamagra when it is sold in just about every pharmacy in town"

If you notice, it's NEVER on display -- you have to ask for it and the proprietor will decide if you're worth the risk to say "yes"

Kamagra is technically illegal in Siam.

"ARREST people for carrying Kamagra" is not quite the proper description -- a better explanation might be something like "FLEECE" . . :)

The police would never bust the pharmacies selling the stuff, that would just help kill off the supply, something they don't actually want to do. No supply means no users, means no "tea money" from farang:) Logic at it's best

Why not? They can get plenty of tea money from Pharmacies selling the stuff illegally. I'm not buying the story that police are conducting body searches on Foreigners in an effort to find Kamagra. You can believe that if you want, but I'm calling bs.

Think they can shake down the farang for a lot more than the pharamcy. Even if, as an example they could get 5k Baht from the retailer, how many people does the retailer supply/ 100'S?, I don't know but at a few 1000 baht a time it's better business to hit the user.

"We have two threads going on this subject. But here's why"

"an American tourist passed away after using a Kamagra tablet"

OK, one tourist, one tablet -- many tourists pass away from many things almost daily in Thailand.

What other meds was he taking? What was the state of overall health? How much alcohol or other drugs had he consumed?

Why don't they ever report on the tens of thousands of guys who had the time of their life and didn't croak?

Source of terror alert: One website with two silly looking cartoon characters and an article that is two years old.

A bit like saying "airplanes sometimes crash, so you better not fly to Thailand"

( Maybe the Ukmedix News nerds need to take a stroll down Walking Street . . . :) )

That's just the point. They get the tea money from the pharmacies already, then they figure out that they can collect the money twice for the same offence if they just observe the customers coming out of the pharmacies where they collect the money.

Or the pharmacist has a police radio and radio's to the police who are in hiding that he's just served unsuspecting customer with product, gives description and poor guy gets nicked, product taken plus fine, police then sell back to pharmacist and production line for t money go's on.. :)

Things are hard at moment in Thailand and poor soft floppy tourist is target.

I only need to take a half a pill a day and told my Doctor to write the prescription accordingly.....he asked why and I replied that I was only taking it so that I would not get my shoes wet anymore when going to the bathroom.
