Does anybody know if there is a way to report foreign guest staying in the serviced appartment to the immigration department online?

I believe it is the job of the Management of the Services Apartments to do this by Law.

Just wondering .. my parents are staying over for a while here in Thailand do i need to report them too ? Im talking no more then 2 weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is such a law, but it's highly unlikely that people report that to immigration that they have house guests and that an of the law is enforced.

this law has been enforced quite vigoroursly recently.the guest house of my friends had frequent visits from immigration officials .the fines for the foreign owners are stip.reports have to be done within 24 hours.of course it is a hussle to run every morning to immigration office to report new guests,but who wants to pay 20000baht fine?so that's why is the question about online registration.

Yes, the owner of the apartment has to report his/her foreign visitors.

How to do this will depend on the local immigration office.

Pattaya for example has an on-line service, at least for hotels/guesthouses, not sure for apartment owners. And not sure in other area's.

If you yourself rent the apartment and you have house guests, you should inform the condo management and they should do it, they, as the owner, would be responsible if neglecting to do this.

I want to ask a related question.

Say I have a foreign house guest in my condo which I own. He writes my condo address on his landing card as where he is staying in Thailand. Then, I don't report the guest to immigration. What are the chances immigration would follow up on such a case, one guest in a privately owned condo?

You have to make a report and otherwise can be fined. What the chances are that you will be cheked and fined nobody can tell.

Reporting a foreigner staying with you can also be done at the local police station, this is one thing you don't have to do at immigration. (Bring your own form, as the police won't have it and probably don't know what to do).

Maybe I am confused, but what is the reason for reporting a foreign guest staying in an apartment? Why would it not be okay for me to have guests staying with me, or for me to stay with friends in Thailand?

Correct me if I am wrong, but all foreign visitors report on their landing visa when they cross the border into Thailand. You are SUPPOSED to put down an address in Thailand, but that is almost impossible to do for new visitors. And, they can change that address the same day they arrive... and most often do.

When I travel through Thailand by air, bus or motorcycle I don't have to register where I am staying.

According to section 38 of the 1979 immigration act, "House owners, heads of household, landlords or managers of hotels who accommodate foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally, must notify the local immigration authorities within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the foreign national." If there is no immigration office in the province or locality of the respective house or hotel, the notification is made to the local police station. In Bangkok the notification is made to the Immigration Bureau. The notification of residence of foreign nationals is made by the manager of licensed hotels according to the hotel act, owners of guesthouses, mansions, apartments and rented houses using the form TM. 30.

The notification of residence of foreign nationals within 24 hours can be made in a number of ways to make the notification as convenient as possible:

* In person at the respective office, or

* Through an authorised person at the respective office, or

* By registered mail, or

* Via internet.

More here: Immigration Bureau

TM. 30 can be downloaded here.

PS.

Note this only applies to "foreign nationals on a temporary basis who stay in the kingdom legally"

Can not find the form for those who stay illegally. :)

The requirement is so that immigration knows at any time where a foreigner is staying.

When you travel, the hotel or person where you are staying is required to report your pressence.

How to define 'temporary basis'?

Those foriegners that don't have Permanenet Residence?

Or would a 1 year visa count as not being 'temporary'

So this means that immigration have a record of all the foreigners that are using short time hotels? :)

My advice is to get a life and stop peeping on your neighbors. If they want to break the law it is no business or yours. Sticking your nose into things in Thailand that are not your own affairs is usually not a smart idea.

I couldn't make it through one day without seeing 100 violations of one kind of another

My reponse? Who cares? Live and let live is the best policy.

When ever you peep and don't know ALL THE FACTS, you are asking for retribution from the people you are peeping on
