Passing through the Paragon Mall at Siam yesterday (30th Oct) afternoon, wifey spotted Mr Abhisit on the ground floor at some kind of awards ceremony. He was sporting a pink polo shirt; looking rather relaxed and approachable (not that we did) and I was wondering what the occasion was. Anyone know?

I those pictures I cannot see anyone looking like a body guard or police though I am sure they were there.

I also didn't see any elderly men being knocked down or assaulted.

Cheers Rumfoord- will check out the link for more info.

We didn't see any trouble and nor any Plod present. We did see a load of black suits in the background, but it was quite discreet and low key. As the turn out seemed to be...

more photos here at the government website: http://media.thaigov.go.th/pageconfig/albu...38&pageno=1

the photos were taken at the opening ceremony for an exhibition that celebrates the 50th year anniversary of the the National Research Council of Thailand . PM Abhisit spoke at that opening ceremony.

all that is the public side of Abhisit that unfortunately seems to be almost unknown to the average TVforum attendee. it is a shame that many things Abhisit does seems to be not newsworthy enough to to be mentioned at this board.

It does seem like Abhisit takes more photo ops that an up and coming transvestite hawking a new perfume. I'm not sure it's a shame that we aren't assaulted with even more tacky photo sessions; it's really a shame he can't do anything to get the government going in the direction it was going before the military junta started calling the shots. That said, no one else handpicked by the Gens. would be any different. It is good to see him amidst his true constituency where he is very popular. If the next election were monitored by the PAD and only the first 5 floors of the Siam Paragon were allowed to vote, I'm sure Abhisit would do very well.
