Maybe someone can answer this question for me. I went to Aranyphathet on Saturday to get my 2nd entry for a double entry Tourist Visa. The immigration official said No, because the "Use before date" said October 30. I had already used teh visa for my first entry and received a 30 day extension. I was not an overstay. I know the Immigration official was wrong in only giving me a 15 day Visa, but I also knew not to get into a big argument with him and tried to explain otherwise to no avail.

My question to the board is: Can I get this corrected at the new Immigrations Office here in BAngkok, or will I need to make another trip to Laos for another Tourist Visa? ANy help is greatly appreciated. I am an American and 60 years old.

Thanks for the wonderful Forum.

When you get a visa, the visa says something like "must be used before" ****-***-***. It is before this date that you have to use both your entries. So it seems the immigration officer was correct in only giving you 15 days. Your visa was expired and you were no longer entitled to use the second entry.

If need be you can get a new tourist visa from Vientianne, Laos.

I presume you don't have 800,000 in a Thai bank account or an incoem of 65,000 a month?

I agree with Mario, you should have made the entry before last Friday, so nothing to correct. They still issue double entry Tourist Visas in Vietianne if you need to stay that long.

I think your problem was the extension as you had of one month sending you past the "use before date".

Essentially by letting this happen and not going out/in again you canceled your second visum...

Personally I think that you should have gone out and back into the country before October 30 and I doubt immigration can do anything about it as you are too late....

When you enter Thailand on 19th November you will get 60 days permision to stay. When you leave in December your stay and Visa will have expired. When you return in January you will get 15 days. Unless you get a Re Entry Permit (1,000Baht) that will keep your stay alive when you leave in December.

Assuming you really do have a single entry and you are arriving by air you may be better off asking the Immigration Officer at the airport to ignore your Visa and give you a 30 day exempt stamp. Then you can use the Visa when you return in January.

It depends on your nationality.

Please provide this info so members can advise correctly.

If they will do it will depend on the officer, but most seem willing to do it and it won't hurt to just try it.

If you want to try it, do not put your visa number on your arrival card.

As said ask if they will stamp 30 days as you will be travelling soon. If they do then you have the visa for return from Philippines. If not obtain re-entry permit to keep the 60 days alive for your return and then extend for 30 days after your return.
