I tried to extend my multiple entry Non IMM O visa got a knock back from the Immigration people at Laksi yesterday so I was wondering if I can you do this in another office e.g. where my wife's tabian bahn is?

My 90 days runs out on Dec 17th so I went there early to make sure there's enough time for the process. It used to be 21 days but is now 30 days for them to assess your application.

The tricky official knew that I was trying it on a bit as technically the money (400,000 baht) has to have been in your account for 2 months (presumably calendar months though has never been specified) and mine had only been there since Oct 1st.

If I waited till Dec 1st (2 months later) there would only have been 17 days left for the process and so this is probably just another way for them to extract 1900 baht for the 30 day extension. Am I right?

If anyone knows how strict about you proving where you live, I'd appreciate it. Can't. I just go to the Pattaya area office (my wife is registered in Satthip or baanlamung area) and show my wife's tabian bahn? And anyway, who's to say I am not living there now? Couldn't I just have moved there recently? And couldn't I own property there effectively having two addresses? One in BKK and the other in Pattaya?

The funny thing I noticed is that when you get off the plane upon arrival in this country you have to have already put the money into a Thai account or go to a Thai bank directly the same day as only then will you be able to satisfy the rules e.g. 2 months (60 days) the money must be in a Thai account and a further 30 days for the application to be processed!? <deleted>? Am I mising something here or am I right and this is just another way to throw an impossible rule at Johnny foreigner in order to extract more cash?

Anyone having experience of this problem please PM or put it on these boards.

best

There is no 21/30 day issue when on a non immigrant visa entry - you can apply up until the last day of permission to stay. For marriage you will always have to return 30 days later for final stamp but there is no extra charge - you pay 1,900 baht for one TM.7 - they give you stamp to return in 30 days - then stamp for year.

Go December 2 or shortly after.

The rule is very clear. The money has to be in the bank for 2 months before application. So it would not matter where you apply.

Go back early December when the money has been in the bank for the required amount of time. You will then be OK.
