Hi,

Just a (hopefully) quick question - I have just moved to a new job, and so my old work permit from my previous employers is being cancelled, with the new work permit for the new job being arranged currently. Do I need to get a new visa put in my passport at this stage also, or does my current (Non. Im. B ) visa remain valid until its expiry date, which is in August 2010?

Thanks in advance for your help or advice.

Do you have a visa or extension of stay? This is very important - if you are not doing 90 day border runs you must be on extension of stay and that ended the day your work ended.

If you are one 90 day entry stamp no problem and you can continue to use your visa for new 90 day entries and new work permit.

I had a visa originally, then an extension of stay stamp which is renewed each year - I don't do 90 day border runs but I must report my address every 90 days.

So does that mean I could be illegal right now? Sounds like this is a situation which will need fixing quickly then...

That stay ended the day your work ended so technically you are currently on overstay. Leaving the country and obtaining a visa it may not be noticed from most reports.

To change from one employment to another is possible but requires coordination of both parties and needs to be done while extension is still valid.

Your "extension of stay" in effect cancelled the visa, so your permission to stay expires when your first job ends. So, if you have already terminated your first job, you have overstayed.

Sorry Lop, didn't see you were replying already.

I can be as wrong as anyone and am certainly not the answer man. It is always good to have more than one post - even when the same often the wording will be different so makes it clearer to more people.
