I obtained a non immigrant O multi entry visa based on marriage 2 mo's ago in Kuala Lampur. I am preparing to make my first border re-entry for a stamp. I just wanted to make sure that i understand that i dont need to get a re-entry stamp to cross the border? I can just go cross the border and get the stamp? Thanks

Correct. Cross and come back again to get another 90 days. Do your last run just before the Visa expires and you will get another 90 days meaning a total of 15 months.

Agree with the above. Make sure that you get stamped into/out of the other country before you return. You cannot just "u-turn" once clearing Thai immigration at the border.

Depends were you live...... Flights are so cheap look easier to fly and return the same day... Notice 1,700 baht return with airport and passenger tax included.

does a non O multiple mean that you do not need the 400k in the bank?

I am in KL now and i asked for a type O visa assuming it would be good for 90 days and then void. the cost was 2200 baht.

i wont know till i see the stamp tomorrow but do you think i am correct or did i just get some sort of 90 day visa? when i checked the type O on the request from it did not offer what type it just asked non immigration visa i specified type O. any opinons?

For that price you will get a single entry visa valid for 90 days from day of issue and allowing a 90 day stay in Thailand upon entry.

Multi entry would be over 5,000 baht and valid for one year allowing unlimited stays of up to 90 days each.

For multi entry for having Thai spouse they want to see 100k in a bank account.

A single entry Non Imm O Visa costs 2,000 Baht. It will give you 90 days.

If you wish to extend it at Immigration based on having a Thai Wife you need 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank OR 40,000 Baht monthly income.

If you applied for a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa 5,000 Baht you would have needed to show some money but a lot less. You would then need to do a border run every 90 days. This would give up to 15 months.

All this assumes that you have a Thai Wife or a Thai Child.

correct i have thai wife and children, the rules have chnged 4x since i have been getting the o type and this is the first boarder run i have made in ???? hence i am unsure of what the plan is, i gather what they want me to do is what i have done and then they will begin the process for my normal type O once the 400k has been in the bank 90 days. So now my Q is if that is their plan will i need to do another boarder run in 90 or will they stamp it in immigration and process the O while i wait in the country?

No such thing as a normal type O.

Within the last 30 days of the 90 you will get when you return, you apply at Immigration for a 12 month extension of stay. You will get a 30 day under consideration stamp and return after 30 days to get your extension.

The fee is 1,900 Baht. I think you are on Samui so do not be suprised if it is more than that. :)

After here in Thailand 60 days you visit immigration with the financial proof/wife/paperwork to obtain a one years extension of your current stay. No more need to exit country. It will be under review for 30 days and you return for the one year stamp.
