We will be visiting the UK in the early new year, traveling via Amsterdam. My Thai wife already has her UK visa but would require a Schengen visa if we planned taking a few days vacation in Holland on our way back. How easy or otherwise is the Schengen application through the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok?

Thanks!

The Embassy of the Netherlands is the only reliable source of information.

However experience learns that if your wife got already a UK visa in her passport it will facilitate the decision making to get a Schengen visa because the required documentation (confirmed airplane tickets, proof of funds, the kind of passport the husband is holding, etc...) is basically the same.

Should not be a problem as she has allready all the papers.

It only can be a problem as she is refused a schengen visa in the past from one of the schengen countries as they work together.

It should indeed not be a problem, but call the embassy before you go to there, you need to make an appointment for a visa.

Visit the website for telephone numbers and the rules.

Off-course totally forgot.

You need a appointment those days. :)

Thanks for the tips chaps! She hasn't been refused any sort of visa before and it's reassuring to know that the hoops already jumped through for the UK visit visa will be taken into consideration.

Assuming that we check all the correct boxes, make the appointment, etc., how long does it take the NL Embassy to issue the Schengen visa? The website is pretty good but doesn't really differentiate between a Dutch visa or the Schengen visa... or are they both the same thing? In that case, it would appear to be a 3-day minimum but if anyone has recent experience, let me know.

Yes, a Schengen Tourist Visa gives access to all Schengen countries, including Holland; just Google Schengen Visa and you have tons of info.
