Thai National Parks

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've been living here for just over a year now, next month my parents in there 50's are coming over from the UK for their first time. My dad's really into nature. I want to take them to a national park/national marine park, either or. Any recommendations? It doesn't really matter which province. Looking for some wildlife, nice scenery etc.

Check out this web site http://www.dnp.go.th/parkreserve/nature.asp?lg=2 This gives a list and information on all parks. It looks to me like you well becoming north to CM. Have a great time.

Great website, too many to choose from. Pai area looks nice. Although Ao phang-nga looks like the favourite, along with Ang-thong national marine park. I can see Ang-thong from my bungalow on Koh phangan.

Anybody ever been to Ang thong?

Edited by wilson1

Angthong is closed until 23.12.

Khao Sok National Park is wild and breathtaking and not too far away from KPG.

So is a trip by boat in Ao Phang Nga.Come by own car at late afternoon to the small port and hire a boat there. You and your parents will probably be the only one doing so and enjoy this absolute fantastic scenery without the masses.

Birdman, that idea with the boat sounds great. I'll try and find out some more on that. Thanks for that.

One of the most stunning natural short trips I have done during many years in T!

The small port is easy to find. Just follow the advertisements on Highway 4 after Phang Nga town on the way to Phuket. Overthere bargain the price with one of the boat owner and here we go!

That's the kind of information for which I rely on TV and knowledgeable posters. Thanks, gotlost!

As an avid birder, I have done a fair share of the National Parks in Thailand. One of the est was Hala Bala in the deep South. Teeming with birds and wildlife and no tourists. Never felt the least bit threatened, either.
