Paying 450 baht for lady's drink....

Wait till you visit Singapore, the price of a lady's drink in pubs where Thai girls and Philippinas frequented is 30 Sing dollars,

about 700 baht....

The girls get 350 baht and the pub management 350 baht. :o

Hello there!

The main question that comes to my mind after reading these many and extensive replies to the initial post is: is a karaoke bar in fact a place where it is common to find "freelancing" girls, ready to be picked up?

Isn't that the question that Eastender really wanted to ask?

Well, is it (such a place and/or the question)?

I'd suggest buying drinks at 7-11 and getting tipsy before you go in.

7-11 Bacardi Lemon = b50

Rip-Off-The-Farang Bars = b150

If you pay for a girl to have a "pepsi" it will be the smallest cup you've ever seen, filled with ice, and you will most-likely pay about b175 for it. My advice is: Look but don't touch. If you buy a girl a drink then the hosts will want you to buy them a drink and before you know it you'll be b1000 in-debt.

Sorry if I didn't answer any of your original questions, or whatever, but I'd just say "mai krub" next time a girl wants to entertain you.

Toaw Rai = How Much?

Beer = Beer, ironically

Mai Krub = No thanks

BAKAKAI = GET THE #### OUT OF HERE. (Yes, it is impolite)

Always ask how much something is before you recieve whatever service it is. I've accidently gotten in a normally b30 tuk-tuk ride and when I arrived the guy asked me for b100. b450 is really peanuts if you think about it.. That's $11 in America.

Good luck

The original post was obviously complaining about the price of the bill so I was offering advice that would lessen the bar-bill. He was afraid of getting ripped off so I advise as-to how to save some money.

Once again a sarcastic and biased reply. It proves to me, once again, that with age does not necessarily come wisdom; only senility and cynicism. And what leads you to ASSUME that girls don't rush me? Is there some deep-seeded jealousy that has manifested itself into a reply to me? What is it that I represent to you?

Out of respect, I guess I'll answer your first question. No, I was not unemployed but I'd say that a minimum wage job doesn't cut the $5, for a shot of vodka, bill that bars charge. When you are a college student you find loopholes and ways to save money and yet still accomplish x or y.

I apologize for being offensive to you.

I just find that the replies I am getting to my posts are, at-least, patronizing.

Maybe *I* was/am the one being senile and cynical because the quotes below are what led me to my conclusion.

Were you unemployed a long time before you got here ? Are you surprised that the girls don't rush you ? - How legal is your visa status? - Get some Viagra.

Once again I apologize if I have offended you. I am a typical Italian (confrontational) and I took your posts as being patronizing, instead of giving you the benefit-of-the-doubt that the questions were genuine and non-threatening.

Hi there!

Now is SOMEBODY going to answer the initial question, kind of "hidden" in the first thread:

"Is a karaoke bar or is it not a "hidden" kind of go-go bar?"

Or better:

"Is a karaoke bar or is it not a place where freelancing girls are waiting to be picked up?"

I am dying of curiosity you know!

Tell me all about it please!

Dutch Vader.

In case your serious, the bar is connected to Central Mansion (appartments) on a soi behind Thong Chareon Appartments on Soi Mahat Thai, Ramkamhaeng Soi 65.

Like Dutch Vader I'd also like to know more about Karaoke girls, if it's common to have bar girls, or freelance girls attached.  If there's one common system or what, or whatever?  I'd just like to know more.

p.s. I have since seen the girl in question again.  Reminded me how pretty she was.  However, speaks no English so couldn't ask her to clarify things.
