Well as every golfer knows there is only one golf course on Samui and that is The Santiburi.

The other 2 mentioned have 9 holes and an average length of less than 200 yards or in the other case so short that that even if it is 9 holes it constitutes a pitch and putt at best.

So there is one decent golf course (incidentally not appropriate for average or tourist golfers because at least 9 holes have blind drives) and that is it. (In point of fact even for decent golfers it only makes sense after you have played it a few times.) (But there you go TIT, it was never properly finished, it is spectacular in parts etc..)

I agree there is but 1 true championship standard course, that being Santiburi. But I am a regular social golfer and The Royal Samui Golf course is for me by far the best course for value for money. A good mix of easy holes and some very tough ones. As you can see from this scorecard

It is definitely not a long course but again it is definitely not a "pitch and putt" course.

True they don't have the facilities of Santiburi yet but you can get a very good priced beer, cheaper than most bars on Samui. And the views, well if you have never been to the mountain top, this is the place to go for the best views on Samui. One side you see over Chaweng Beach, Koh Phangan, and the other you look down on the full length of Lamai Beach.

It also offers a more relaxing golfing experience than Santiburi IMO. And YOU get to drive the golf carts, not the caddie. Lots o fun.

Green Fees for 9 holes is 650 Baht and for 18 holes(2 rounds) 1,150 Baht. You have to use a golf cart which is I think about 500 Baht for 9 holes and 800 Baht for 18 holes. They also have golf clubs and shoes for rent for those that need. So a whole lot cheaper than Santiburi and as I said before IMO a much more relaxing golfing day than Santiburi. No so official.

The tee at the 8th has I think the best view of the entire stretch of Lamai Beach.

Just for those too lazy to go to their website.

i've just been to the website, the prices are really reasonable and looks like some decent clubhouse facilities to.

Unfortunately the clubhouse has not been completed and there doesn't seem to be any further progress.

They have a small office and shop where you can buy beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. I think you can get snacks as well but not sure.

But the course itself is great.

Hi there,

Do you have any updates on the golf courses ?? any new courses, prices etc.

Are there any driver range ? instructors ? or anyone out there good enough to teach me now and then , please pm to me.
