Three security men took advantage of their position to attempt to rob a house in Green Residence Village, Pattaya, whose occupant they knew had left the country and returned home. However, other alert security guards managed to scotch their planned heist before they could escape with their spoils, detaining two of the gang, while the other escaped.

Pattaya, December 9, 2009,[PDN]: At 3am, on December 9, 2009, Pattaya Deputy Investigator, Pol. Capt. Jumras Thong Jinda, after being notified that two thieves had been arrested by security guards and volunteer police officers at a house in Green Residence Village, Soi Thepprasit 7 [soi Jularat], Jomtien, dispatched a team to investigate.

At the two storey, luxury house, no. 70/25 Moo. 12, in the vicinity of the swimming pool, police found two men being held by security guards. The men were named as Mr. Boy Boonoil,[18], from Huay Yai, and Mr. Sarunyu Wongjuntha aka Kom [20], both security guards working at Green Residence Village.

Police questioned them and they confessed that they had planned to rob the house, which they knew belonged to a foreigner who had temporarily returned to his homeland. The two men also admitted that they had another accomplice, who had manage to escape before the officials arrived. Apparently, the three men had finished their shift earlier that evening and had sneaked back to the house in the early hours of the morning with the intention of robbing it.

They had broken into the house through the back door and had moved a TV, a home theatre and a CD player to a toilet on the ground floor, next to the swimming pool, intending to remove these items, and any others they managed to acquire, later. Fortunately for the house owner, however, they were caught red-handed by more honest security guards on the late shift.

The police duly reported the case and sent the two arrested men for further investigation. The house owner will be informed, so he can ascertain exactly what has been stolen and a search will be conducted to find the whereabouts of the third man, so that all three culprits can be prosecuted.
