Foot Xray/mri Question

Featured Replies

Hi there,

My foot is in pain for the last 3weeks so I need to sort out what it is?.

Now it might just be fallen arches from wearing sandals but it might be a small broken bone so I would just like to know hence an xray or mri foot scan?

Does anybody have any suggestions, where to go to get a scan?

(Any any idea what it cost?)

Thanks

Sean

Any hospital can do an Xray, cost will vary with the hospital but in most places I thinkunder a 1,000 baht .

MRI would set you back 10,000 baht or more and may not be necessary.

if Xray fails to show anything I suggest you consult this doctor who specializes in foot probelms. He is at BNH Hospital

If you need orthotics search this forum as there have been oposts about where to get in Bkk

If you have had an injury, a fracture is possible and hence an X-ray may be needed.

Most foot problems are soft tissue problems such as plantar fasciitis and an X-ray may only be useful to show a calcaneal spur or such like but have a good exam first and then have specific special investigations.

Thanks Sheryl for the details of the doctor at BNH Hospital and FBN for the information, much appreciated. I don’t think its serious but just need to get it checked out.

Be careful of some of the contrast dyes used in MRI scans. Not all scans require them, but there is some evidence coming to light they may not be safe, particularly for those with renal problems.

Reminds me a little of some of the dyes used in X-ray scans a few decades ago which were linked to chronic pain problems in those injected with them and were withdrawn.
