A quick question. One of my consultants is currently in the country where the project he is working with has slipped due to contractor delays and bad weather offshore. What is the maximum (f any) extension that we may hope to get on that visa so that he can cover the end of the project?

Thanks!

PS Forgot to ask; when his WP approval is ready, what would be the best local area Consulate to get the new Non-B issued for a fast re-entry to Thailand?

The extension is either 7 days or 1 year, with a work permit and all the other paperwork. For the 7 day extension immigration might want to see a ticket out of the country in 7 days.

With WP form 3 and a single entry it shouldn't matter that much where you apply. Kl is a good choice.

^ Thanks Mario. Just to clarify, my chap is already in the country on a single-entry Non-B that he got in the RTC Manila. (they wouldn't give a multi-entry). Since his WP application is already 'in process' here, he doesn't have it yet but the 90-days he got on arrival expires on 25 Jan and he would ideally need to be here through to about 8 February, one week extension would probably not quite cover it. Hopefully, his WP will be in place by then and he can get a 1-year extension if that is permitted. I thought that once the WP is issued, he would need to depart Thailand and re-enter on a new Non-B in order to be street legal. Are you suggesting that he can get a 1-year extension on the current visa (that was acquired so he could initially apply for the WP) without leaving the country and actually 'activating' the WP?

If he get his WP before his permission to stay ends (25 Jan) he can just apply for an extension of stay for 1 year, with all company documents etc. No need to leave the country and apply for a new non-B.

Just to keep everything in perspective. The local Immigration chaps gave my consultant a 30-day extension... dated from yesterday and NOT from the original 90-days expiration date of 25 Jan. When it was pointed out that this means he 'loses' 7 days on the original date he was allowed to stay, they said, "No problem, we will extend again as long as he is still in the country."

Pay attention at the back! We will be asking questions in the morning.

From the back row. Is it stamped "extension of stay" or "under consideration"? The under consideration is a non extension as used for periods like the 7 days after employment or 30 days for marriage extensions of stay to be approved.
