I replied to a PM yesterday.

The reply appears not to be saved in the sent items folder despite the reply being received.

Is there some control I should be setting to ensure replies are saved?

Once you've typed your reply, you have to tick the checkbox (Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder) below the message window. I think you can also make this setting permanent if you go into "My controls".

Penz :o

Thanks, Penz, I'll make sure I tick the check box.

Although I am sure I had made this setting permenant when I first joined TV. Still it could have "fallen out" under forum updates.

.... I am sure I had made this setting permenant when I first joined TV...

How did you do that? :o

oops, sorry, lazy English - should have been "thought" instead of "am sure".

And we all know what thought did?

It would be quite a nice feature though :D Maybe George or an Admin can suggest it to Invision?

It used to be by default, and you had to check the box so as to not save the message. I prefer this way as I do not reach my limit as quickly.

I've always considered the problem of cleaning up when a box becomes full, to be rather minor. Especially when compared to the irritation of trying to remember exactly I what wrote and who I slandered, in an already sent PM.

I should have written:

Yes, but I'm a hoarder - hate throwing things away. Just in case....

I agree. Messages used to be saved by default.

I checked my files and the last message I have saved was dated

25th Oct 2004.

Since then nothing.

Cannot see how to make it a default again.
