Santika The Movie..

If they portray the tragedy the right way, this movie may be taken as social commentary on how badly this tragedy was handled by the justice system in Thailand.

If the law can't shame these people (the owners of Santika), maybe a movie can? In that case, I hope it gets international attention!

It is just entertaiment and not a national geografic documentary, so nothing will change :)

That is so wrong. The man three houses down daughter died in the blaze. If this is real some one needs to be slapped at least twice a day for two years to fix the problems with their head.

....nothing, none what so ever, will fix this attitude problem of "sanook mahk, mahk", it's seriously ingrained,

to laugh at someones mischief is almost as good as a hit in the lottery, covers for some their very own misery for a fraction of time!

Seen it so many times - accident victims, with bend limbs and shattered bones.... being grinned at.. :)

What has that ghost movie got to do with Santika?

Soundman, my staff tell me that the attached portion does speak about Santika....at the top. "Based on the true story of Santika" or thereabouts is the translation.

Incorrect James.

At the top it says ซานติฆ่า as opposed to the Club's name ซานติกา

Dont i feel like the f**king a hole. Well I just balled out the staff and fired one of them!

I understand (probably incorrectly), that it's a play on words. Anyways, too close for comfort.

Play on words absolutley.

"Based on a true stories" has me going as well, & until anyone has actually seen the movie, I don't think any of us will know for sure.

..................

Just got my better half to look at it and she is not sure one way or another.

Be terrible if someone actually made a movie based on a tragedy like that, so soon after the disaster. :)

I've lost count how many times Thai people have jokingly asked me 'Are you going to Santika for new year? he he he'

People were burnt to death you degenerate prick! Thais love Thais. No, they most certainly don't.

if the Thais are as bad as you say, what are you doing living in a country of which you despise the people so much .... they must make your life so miserable just by feeling that they are around you.

just go back home :) !

Easy mistake given the artwork!

I am back home. Not everyone who uses this site is in Thailand you small minded nationlist.

Respect other people and their culture. What do you say when something is bad; nothing?

Clearly inspired by the Santika tragedy, with slogan at the top 'From Page One (News) to Film.'

One year today..and still no convictions, and what was left of the club has now gone :)

So the change of spelling of the word Santika in Thai is an attempt to avoid litigation? (or assassination)

It's merely a cultural difference in how one views death, nothing to get mad about. A bit more understanding is needed, by you.

One of my Asian friends who I know was very depressed about his father's death, generally, said to me when he told me, "Ya, my dad died, ha ha" and grinned while shaking his head. I know from being close to him that was he was quite depressed as I could tell over the coming months but in his culture it's acceptable to laugh when saying such things, as it keeps the heart light in a time of great loss.

I've seen it time and time again with Thai and Filipino friends and I would have to call it just a cultural difference. Some joke about death to remove the horror from it while others talk about death in hushed, respectful tones. There is not "right" way just different ways.
