Road Disruption In Na Jomtien Area

Does anyone know why the Jomtien Beach Road road was crawling with well over 50 police officers last night from Chaiyopruk Rd (sp) to to south end? I suspect high level dignitaries as there were road blocks plus officers every 50 metres plus at all Soi's.

It was HRH Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn - he went to a restaurant in Soi 18.

What's up there? A private house of a restaurant? (I could go and drive up there to find out but it's easier to ask, especially wth Sunday traffic on JBR!)

Thanks for the input. Whoever it was must have seemed very import to be protected to this degree as they were uniformed officers with sidearms and very serious. Even the dignitaries at the Asean Summit didn't command this degree of protection.

It was the same in the afternoon about 3-4pm from Chaiyapruek to the Huay Yai junction on Sukhumvit, loads of police, there was a lot of people waiting by the mini mart at the Chaiyapruek junction to see if they could catch a glimpse! Must have been a full day out.

For sure!

Still, I love seeing police on the streets, even if only for VIP flunky duty.

I wonder where they all scarper to after the motorcade passes?

"but such delays occasionally occur of course though!!! "

I count myself lucky that he was only an hour late for the dinner I attended 2 years ago where he was the guest of honour. THAT was an interesting bit of nosebag.

Do they allow access to the road for emergencies during these closures.?

If someone had suffered a heart attack would they allow someone to drive them to a hospital? or allow an ambulance to attend?

I was unlucky to run into Prince charlies motorcade when I was going to wellington airport a couple of years back.

It was stated on the television that the uk royal family opened their christmas presents as usual on christmas eve....in the german tradition.

What ?
