I'm currently in Thailand and using the Tom Tom IQ routes edition with no problems whatsoever.I downloaded the thai maps before i left the UK from the Tom Tom website.Not all Tom Toms can download the maps due to lack of memory.

About time. If its a Navi map then its pretty much the same as the Garmin

Not for all models, I have a go630T there are no Thai maps listed for it.

My guess would be that an any TomTom IQ purchased from a dealer in Thailand will have a Thailand map installed. Makes no sense to buy a GPS in Thailand without the map preinstalled. Garmin and Mio GPS units come with the Thailand map already installed.
