el jefe
Do you want cheap or quality? Usually you don't get both. Try Grace -- http://www.gracedentalclinic.com/ 500 - 1500 for simple extractions.

Graham101
OP there's a good dentist near Chiang Mai Gate. Sorry I forget the name but they have a small drive-through going to the carpark at the back. They have their own technicians on-site too making crowns and dentures, etc. Much, much cheaper than Grace and very good work from the simple fact that they don't rely on foreigners for their income. Stay away from the glitzy places with limo and van services and you'll save another 50%. Normal dentists that Thai people use have given me no problems at all and provided excellent work. They'll also show you their standard costs. When I was pricing a crown in Chiang Mai Grace was much more expensive for the identical type of crown. I paid 1000 baht to have one of my wisdom teeth removed at Grace. How much cheaper do you want to get? And, yes, they have "gas" for an extra charge. Mapguy
"Drive through!" Funny! But then there's the trick with a little super glue, a strong string, a door knob, and a mad wife to slam the door! Which do you lack?
Thakkar
Anywhere do gas? Mr mega phobic to dentists!David Specialist Dental Hospital on Suthep Rd (opp the Wat Suthep). On the fist floor, there's an air-conditioned clinic with specialists in all fields. competent dentists and reasonable prices. I was told that part of what the clinic earns goes towards dental education and support for the free clinic downstairs. No gas! If I wanted gas, even these guys recommended Grace, but said it would be about twice the price. Like you, I was phobic and nearly bolted towards Grace as the dentist walked in. But his manner and sincerity put me at ease. The actual pain turned out to be far less than I'd imagined. My daughters go to Fortune, because that's where their friends go. Prices similar to Grace, I'm told. Mrs. T has her own preference: Smile Dental near Tesco Khamthieng —standard Thai prices. Not the cheapest, but way cheaper than Grace. Both the specialists I met at the Specialist Dental Hospital said that if I wanted the most painless 5-star treatment, Grace is the place.
SwaziBird
I once saw this sign; WE OFFER THREE KINDS OF SERVICE GOOD - CHEAP - FAST You can pick any two. GOOD service CHEAP won't be FAST GOOD service FAST won't be CHEAP FAST service CHEAP won't be GOOD I have always borne that in mind and it's stood me in good stead. I personally have found Grace to be great. Cheers.

I use this place also and have for the last 5 years, I had 2 front teeth capped for 7000thb each, also an extraction was 500thb, the drive through as stated in the post above is to the carpark, NOT a drive through dentist. The main Dr speaks very good english.

ollylama
the chiang mai dental hospital on the superhighway (just west of the chang puak road intersection) has always served me well. just had my teeth cleaned for 600 baht and they did a great job. A couple of years ago the dentists at Ram told me I had three cavities which I did not have. Since I've only had one in my life (give your kids fluoride supplements! worked for my sister and i), i figured they were full of it. they were. nothing like upselling people on medical procedures they don't need. although, be warned - i do remember someone saying that the same place extracted the wrong tooth by accident once. if you do go, make sure they know what you're in there for! ChouDoufu
oh, my. and i just had two fillings there! installed by the lovely dr. khanidtha. perhaps i should dig them out with a screwdriver to see if they were indeed necessary? and i wouldn't hold dr k's gas fib against him, could just be the only place he knew of with nitrous. ManilaLover
Anywhere do gas? Mr mega phobic to dentists!

David

dr. kitcha tells me the only place with gas is 'dentalland' on nimmenhaminin Dr. Kitcha is telling fibs. Grace also have Nitrous Oxide. Dr. Kitcha is a crook, forget that guy. He charges a lot of money for a temporary plastic crown that's normally just include in the price when you wait for a new crown to be ready. And he insulted my old mum by proudly saying 'Heil Hitler' to show his knowledge about Germany although we are Dutch with jewish backgrouds. The best dentist might be Clark Lamberton, a 90 (!!!!) year old American who lives here for 50 years and has a lot of knowledge and inexpensive. His shop is opposite Sansai market (the road to doi saket just pass the 2nd ringroad) next to the Charun Optic. He is a great guy who loves his job, his staff are nice and respectable people too, not like those timid young chicks from Kitcha. If you go for cheap go to a clinic connected to the university, but can't tell you where.
mallmagician
There a dentist on the middle ring road. You head from the city, up the Doi Saket road, till you get to the second ring road. Turn left onto the second ring road. Its right there on your left. Big tooth outside (Not real) Just last week, had 2 teeth extracted - 3 injections (Total Pain Phobia), Cost me 700 baht total for both teeth. They speak a little English, and are pretty state of the art (Not a stuff-of-nightmares experience). The number is 053 351934 I may go back next week and get a few more out, as its too cheap to just wait till its needed. (This is a joke, but the above info isn't!) Thanks Phil
mallmagician
Oh, I just read that there are no middle ring roads apparantly. Its the next main road after the Superhighway ringroad, and the road before the furthest main highway road. Somewhere in the middle.
