I do miss the british summer peaches...

you can stick your durien somewhere the smell won't get noticed....

but these mangosteens are fanbloodytastic.

Anyone agree ??

i love the thai fruit too, my favorite is lum yai (sp?)

Really don't like Lum Yai... :D

I agree totally about the Durian, smells like s#it and tastes even WORSE if thats possible

Durian if bought fresh from a good supplier doesn't really smell, after it's been hanging around on a stall some where for a few days it starts to pong, other than that I agree tastes terrible and not good for the waistline either, my wife loves it.. :o

In also love Mangosteen but also Noy Na and Jackfruit.

Maybe I'm the weird one, because I never really flipped for Thai fruits. I can pretty much take or leave mangosteen and all the rest. But I do love the rose apples. This doesn't mean that I don't like the other fruit, I just never flipped for them like a lot of other people.

But what I do absolutely love, is the intensity of the fruit that I already know and devour. For example, the flavor of Thai pineapples and tangerines are out of this world. Although, I am now afraid of tangerines because of the massive amount of pecticides on them.

What's the black fruit that has stones in it and comes in a large peanut type shell. It's chewey and my personal fav.

It sounds like Makaam (Tamarind) มะขาม

There is a sweet and a sour variety. The sour type is used a lot in Thai cooking.

Mankut my favourite too. However I'm doubly weird as I like them ice cold out of the fridge! :o

I'm doubly weird too, then. :D

No, you are just a very cool kind of wierd. :D

mankut do taste a bit like raspberry, but better. Kind of miss blackberry and elderberry picking season too. Such a shame there are no peaches here. Plums have been showing up a fair bit, as have red cherries :D True inspiration putting mangoes with sticky rice .......

the rose apple (champoo) tastes like its thai name, soap, or wax

jackfruit

mangosteen

pineapples dipped in the salt/sugar/spicy mix

all the different leechee types that look like eyes (my kids say that)

anything tropical actually

those nifty tiny tiny bananas that actually taste like bananas in place of those awful giant yellow things with no flavour

maakham (tamrhindu)

except guavas and probably durian though didnt get to try it

have got my isreali friends eating green apples dipped in that salt/spicy mix

green peaches dipped in same

melon same same

cold melon in ghatee and sugar beats icecream any boiling hot day

Ummm... have to agree, very nice... I'm in the UK at the moment and my wife keeps telling me she's been eating just that... makes my mouth water :D

Tamarind can also be eaten the same way... :D

Nice new avatar Totster. That little fishy would be very tasty as a main course before the mangosteen feast.....

Little fishy is a bit small... I could do with a few of them, rubbed in salt and rammed with lemon grass.... :D

Farang (guava) and pomelo, can't be assed with the rest. Do miss raspberries and decent strawberries though.

I dunno the Strawberries I got a early in the year tasted ok.... my wife refuses to eat them though... :o
