Prescription

Please can anyone advise ?

As I will be going to Malaysia and Australia this year have a question about medications..

Before I came here in 2003 the UK Doctor wrote out a 2 page prescription...

Here I can buy everything over the counter, but a couple of my pills are prescription only in the UK..

Also here I buy everything in Bulk so most of my medication is in 500 or 1000 pill pots, so will take out a weeks supply of each tablet to travel...

Therefore my pills will be loose, would there be a problem? I still have the 2 page prescription from the UK Doctor I could take but of course it is dated Feb 2003..

Many thanks

I don't know if this will help you much, but both countries are very strict on drugs - although Oz will let you live :)

Went through this last year on a trip to the US...similar situation. Plus, pharmacy feds from way back are in those plastic zip-lock type baggies. I had a copy of my old NZ doc's script, went to my local doc and explained the situation. He wrote out a script; I got hold of some small bottles; and bit the bullet for the extra money, went to the hospital pharmacy. They put the stickers on the bottles for me instead of the baggies.

I was asked to show my meds on the way back in to LoS. I opened my bag, the inspector looked and said, "they're all in Thai!" Go on through... That was worth the cost and aggro of getting the scripts done. Oh, and of course, keep a copy of the local doc's script with you as well.

I reckon it'd be pretty hard for either country to give you a hard time if you take those steps.

Best of luck, have a good trip!

Many thanks, maybe also better to see if I can buy them in blister strips just for the trips
