Long Run In Bkk

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a place to do 14-20 mile long runs in Bangkok. I don't have a car so it would need to be easily accessible by some form of public transportation, and preferably have meter marks or something to know distance.

Does such a place exist? I was wondering about Lumpini park- went there once (haven't been here long) at night but don't know the distance around or if any signs tell you so.

Thanks!

I think Lumpinee park has got markers on the floor. I might be wrong but I think it's 3.2km around but I can't be sure.

Lumphini does in fact have markers at regular intervals on the asphalt path that goes around the permiter of the park. It's a good place to run but the problem for the type of distances that your talking about is that you're apt to find it monotonous to make so many laps around such a small park. It does have the advantage that you can't get lost though.

One thing that you might want to consider it you're concerned about tracking your distance would be to get on of those Garmin GPS watches. They solve the lack of distance markers problem quite nicely. I find that the distances measured by the Garmin agree quite closely to what I get when I measure courses with the cyclometer on my bicycle.

Thanks for the update on Lumpini! I do have a Garmin, but it's back in the States right now and I won't get it until March, and I've got some long runs I have to do before a race in March. I'll definitely be bringing it back. Not looking forward to doing a bunch of laps around a 3.2K loop!

lumpini park in central bkk, its prob about a mile diametre. very close to sky train.

Im a semi marathon runner and use Chatuchak and adjacent Queen Sirikit park as the entire revolution is 7kms and you can run on the grass which helps the knees.

Unfortunately there aren't many others in Bangkok so I joined the army sports centre on Vipavadee in order to use the Thai army stadium for speed work and long runs. It costs 2000 baht a month

Need any other info pm me
