You do not say where you are from, but there are a handful of consulates in Europe and Australia that will issue multiple entry Non-O visa on the basis of visiting friends. Paperwork requirements vary from consulate to consulate. Hull, for example, will currently issue with no 'evidence'; Perth and Brisbane currently require sight of signed copy of Thai friends ID card/passport to issue.

Thanks for reply.

Not sure about Sweden. Call them and otherwise try one of th consulates in Germany.

But with a multiple entry visa you will not need a re-entry permit. The visa allows you to travel to Thailand for 1 year, starting from the day of issuance. Ech time you enter Thailand, you are allowed to stay for 90 days. After that you have to leave, but can come right back the same day. By leaving and re-entering Thailand just before the visa expires you will get a new 90 days and almost 15 months out of the visa.

I thought Hull were doing the same now?

According to a poster on the 'other' forum. :)

To samuibeachcomber: You mean, JUST by giving the reason of visiting friends can possibly get an O-visa? What kind of friend that the gov is expecting to issue an O-visa?

I am a Msian, no job no kids no family no biz no property, nor in Thailand too. I do have an uncle who married a Thai lady, and few Thai friends (including some hilltribe natives). With this, will it be supportive enough for me to apply for an O-visa? Anything else that will be advantage in the application? Should I apply it through homecountry Consulate or the Thai Embassy? Is it free?

Thank you

You have next to no chance of getting that class of visa in Malaysia or SEA generally Buddhist. You might get one with a letter from a Thai Temple supporting Buddhist studies or practice. It will, cost you money. The Non-Immigrant visa is not free.

Buddist: Believe you are currently in the region. The nearest consulate that will issue Non-O multiple entry visa for the purpose of visiting friends is Perth. You will need to take with you a signed copy of Thai friend's ID card/passport. Visa cost is I believe AUD 220.

Or, depending on the length of stay, consider obtaining a double entry tourist visa from Vientiane. They are currently free. With extensions and a border run in the middle that will give you 6 months stay. Note that extensions of stay from Thai immigration cost 1,900 baht a time.

am not certain but i think a requirement might be visiting family or friends, thai or farang.

Well you didn’t mention where you’re from, but why must it be a Non-O?

In some European countries it’s really easy to apply for a Non-B multiple at a Thai consulate, not at an embassy.

Can i just mention a problem that a friend of a friend had yesterday at Chong Chom.

He has a non-immigrant 'O' visa and went to Chong Chom to get a further 90 days extension of stay.

He was given 15 days. Despite protesting that he had 90 day extensions in the past the official would not budge.

Was he unlucky or I am missing something ?

You mean he went to the border and tried to get a new entry for 90 days? Without knowing till what date his visa was/is valid it is impossible to tell what the problem might be.

As I understand it he had a 12m non-O that was in date.

If this is indeed the case he can go to his local immigration and get the 'mistake' fixed for free :)

The important date is the date on the visa, not the previous entry stamp issued by immigration. Do note that the date on the visa is an 'enter before' date, you must use the visa before this date.

A further development:-

There are 8 months remaining on the visa. He went to Chok Chai who said Chong Chom should not be issuing 90 dayvisas anyway and they promptly stamped him up for a further SIXTY days and charged him !!

An entry stamp is not a visa so something has been lost in the telling. Exactly what was he charged and for what? Is he married to a Thai? He was stamped for a further 60 days from the current 15 day entry?

This UK citizen has a non-imm 'o' visa with over 8 months remaining. He has been in Thailand 90 days on Friday 29th January. He went to Chong Chom (as friends had previously done) to get a 90 day re-entry stamp. This is where he was given 15 days and charged 1,400. A couple of days later he went to Chok Chai immigration to correct the situation. He was given a further 60 days stamp i.e. 60 + 15 and was charged another 1,400

Sorry but now you have messed it up further. If he got a re-entry stamp he would not get any addition time on his current entry and it would have cost 1,000 baht. There is no immigration service with a charge of 1,400 baht.

Did he exit Thailand and return, paying a fee for other country visa perhaps? And expected to receive a 90 day permitted to stay stamp but only got 15 days?

He then went to immigration and they gave him 60 additional days for 1,400 baht? That makes no sense and extensions cost 1,900 baht and correction of a stamp would have been 75 additional days. He is not married to a Thai (there is a 60 day extension available for that - but cost would have been more).

Edit: He did exit Thailand, enter other country paying visa fee, and returned to Thailand, not paying any fee in Thailand?

Apologies lopburi, I am doing this 3rd hand and that might be a mistake.

Simplistically, (as I understand it) he had to leave Thailand within the 90 day stay period afforded by the non-imm 'o' visa. He is not married. He tried to achieve this at Chong Chom by going into Cambodia and back. I imagine the 1,400 fee was on the Cambodian side. The problem came on re-entry where he was expecting another 90 day stamp. He only got 15. His visit to Chok Chai immigration was to correct the error. It was here he got the additional SIXTY days. I was told the fee was 1,400 but it could have been 1,900..

I posted only to highlight some further inconsistencies in process but I do not understand why Chok Chai could not simply give 90 days.
