January 27, 201016 yr I am setting up a charity fund raiser and am seeking some advice re Tuk Tuks. Specifically can you (farang) buy/hire Tuk Tuks and how much? What sort of licence? M/C, car or commercial? Is it possible to take the Tuk Tuk across the border into Malaysia? What sort of paper work would you need to take across? Do you think a Tuk Tuk is reliable enough to drive to KL? Thanks to anyone that knows something about this and can give some advice.
January 27, 201016 yr A few years ago there was a guy riding a (Three-Wheel-)TukTuk from Chiang Mai to Belgium. The only modifications were - as far as I remember - a better seat for the driver and a rebuild from LPG to gasoline... There was a story in Bangkok Post.
January 27, 201016 yr Can we find out how much to buy all the tuk tuks in Phuket and drive them all to Malaysia, then leave them there? I would donate to that cause.
January 27, 201016 yr Here´s a story about a nut who did a trip from BKK to Danmark in 2004 , do i feel envy ? January 27, 201016 yr You can not drive a tuk-tuk. You must have a tuk-tuk driving license. Only Thai national can have this occupation and is forbidden to a non Thai. Can be punished with 20.000 baht or five year in prison or both penalties.

January 29, 201016 yr I would be interested in your project.. I took part in the Indian autorickshaw challenge.. 200 kms over India in monsoon season.. Great fun.. When I returned I toyed with the idea here but it got too complex fast (Thai tuktuks have a much higher value than their Indian versions)
