The moon is doing some funky stuff tonight, at least from here in Bangkok. Go out and have a look if you haven't already, maybe some budding photographers on TV can take some snaps.

Thank you kindly. I'll get out there on the roof right away.

:)

Yes, from down here in Ban Chang, there really is a little more orange than yellow, so I took a few shots of the wonderful Orange Moon. I'll just need fifteen minutes to upload them..brb.

It truly IS an Orange Moon tonight!

I've adjusted the brightness and contrast down and up by -16 and +28 respectively, but have not touched the hue at all, honest.

Looking East from a rooftop in Ban Chang, Rayong:

Posts with off topic quote and their responses removed, too confusing. :)

My fault although some accident from the clipboard I guess. It was unintentional but must have been I hit the wrong key in my haste to take the photos of the Moon.

Thank you for removing my own stupid unintentional error.

There really is an Orange Moon up there in the sky tonight. Look at this!

This is what the moon looked like last night in our low pollution Chiangmai. Apparently it was at its closest.

Handheld photo reduced resolution no further processing.

The Sun's light does not change the colour of the Moon.

It is ourselves who change the atmosphere around this EARTH to dilate the spectrum.

Orange is the most pleasant way to remember us. Let's not dream tonight of anything more sinister, for we have some time play with our ostriches yet, before our nights are through.

Long Live the Moon!

Deep red at 7.00pm (few stratus cloud), dark orange at 7.30pm (clear sky), regular milky white now, in Prachinburi. No triffids today. :)

You know the night's magic seems to whisper and hush,

You know the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush ...

Can I just have one more moondance with you my love...

Great moon shining over the pond outside my window. I'm not sure if I should post the picture though. Somebody might think I was having sex with it. :) Getting the detail of the moon means playing with the contrast. Getting the illusion of an orange moon means you don't get the detail of the moon. The only thing missing was all the fireworks I saw on New Years Eve full moon.

The moon that I saw looked just like this:

It really was quite and impressive sight.

Great shot, moonrakers. Smog or smoke always adds colour to the moon or sun. The best sunsets are always through a thin layer of cloud or smoke.

For all these added extras we might be adding to planet Earth over this past industrial era, it seems the Man in the Moon appreciates us, and who can compete with that kind of bon homie?

Natalie Merchant says that life on these streets is a carnival but unless you know the song, it's best you trust in the Orange Moon - the Saffron Moon, just for you and me to relax and listen to the music, and what my eyes have seen, in a spectacle of wealth and poverty ...,

The significant thing tonight is if you look to the left of the moon, up 30 degrees and about a small outstretched fist away is Mars at it's brightest.

I wish I had some bew batteries for the camera. It would look great to have Mars and the Moon in one shot. Maybe tomorrow night or soon. I will buy some spares tomorrow night.

Yes, they reckon with a 100mm telephoto you should get them both in frame and see some detail of the Moon's surface.

If you saw the orange moon just as it was rising last night in the Banchang area the strange glow was most likely the effects from the pollution emitted from that new huge roman candle that's been burning in the Maptaput PTT factory for two weeks now. It lights up the night sky for miles and miles and I'm sure the man in the moon can even see it.
