I went on a company sponsored trip as one of 4 foreigners-rest were Thai. We were quickly shuttled on the way back from Burma (the islands) to the front of the line at the immigration office where the officer was more concerned that we had our arrival-departure cards presented exactly this way and opened facing up etc-very rude-rudest immigration person i have encountered to date in Thailand.

I just paid the week before for a new multiple re-entry permit. This einstein immigration officer did not even look at my reentry-just assumed it was single entry like the three others in my group before it. I tried to stop him when he stamped used and before he put a big diagonal ink mark and i was told" be quiet do not interfere with his work."

When he presented it back to me, I very politely showed him the error. He looked and then started to hand me the passport back. I don't care if he lost face I was not losing my multiple re-entry!

I very politely but louder so the other officers could hear re-explained the error- I think by the number of the stripes one was above him... They looked at it and then whited out the ink mark and the used stamp... he put his cell phone number down and said for someone to call him/ I am leaving the country again IN 10 days and time will be tight when I return..only have a couple of hours before I have to be at work.

Has anyone had this happen-Do I have to make another trip to immigration to make sure I can re-enter with this multiple re-entry as it is now somewhat defaced but corrected according to this last officer who made the error?

When I applied for and paid for a multiple re-entry permit, they gave me only a single. I went right back to the counter and showed the error with my receipt. They took my passport and after 5 minutes gave it back to me. The error was corrected with a white correction fluid and an initial. I did not have any problem using the multiple re-entry permit at the airport. I can only assume that you should not have any problem since it appears to be the procedure.

It is the signature of the immigration official that makes it official, otherwise you could just do it yourself. (Which is not a smart thing to do).

When correcting an entry date error on my passport, the officer hand wrote her 'Officer Number' next to their signature next to the correction.

Each and every Immigration Officer has a number - like a policeman - these numbers are visible on entry and exit stamps as little numerals right around the edge of the stamp. The individual officer, and their usual place of work can be easily traced and contacted by checking the number agasinst a database.

I had this happen once with a multi-entry non-imm. 'O'...I didn't go to immigration for correction just simply indicated the error on the next departure and the officer at the airport departure desk did the correction by writing a note in the margin...

one dumbshit incompetent cancelled out by another officer being very helpful...TiT... :)

Thanks, I see this appears to be a common mistake and the usual method to correct it is to use the white out and sign their initials. I will not bother making another trip to immigration.
