Yes thanks for this...I am still searching in vain to get scammed after the years of living here, if the scams are getting worse as self reported by you then i should also step up my search in order to find one.

Thanks again....i'm off out to check the calibration of the Air Asia scales

I too find it impossible to even be approached to be scammed.

I saw a Nigerian hanging around the bank yesterday and I wondered if he was waiting to pull a move. He withdrew money and went on his way. Very disappointed.

Good to see you are remaining vigilant. Try not to become become complacent. The moment you do, they do not reset the petrol pump. :) :)

I've been here for years now and have yet to be murdered.

Obviously it just doesn't happen here.

Murder happens everywhere so what's the point in posting it....

Let me take your mind back to your very first time here. Never had a drink added to your bill, never had a tuk-tuk up the price on you because it was raining etc etc. If not, do you think you are in the majority, or the minority in relation to tourist coming here now for the first time?

I also got scam on seafood restaurant in beach front road, Patong. Can't remember the name, but they charged me 6,500 THB for 1.5 Kg of Phuket Lobster and stir-fried mixed vegetable for 650 THB. Ouch!!! just bloody expensive.

I 100% don't think that the majority of tourists who come here get drinks added to their bill and I don't believe I ever have.

Some tuk tuks charging more when it's raining maybe...however it's not a scam. People can chose whether they want to use that tuk-tuk or move on to another one. That's what I do if ever I want to leave Patong on a saturday night. Never had a problem.

Wife or Girlfriend are the highest probability of scamming you in Thailand (Or Katoeys or Boyfriends if your that way inclined)

Adding drinks to the bill was just one example. Would you care to take a guess on the good old jet-ski scam? How many tourist has that scam made happy?

Then having a doctor charge you double when you need an apendix surgery is fine right? You could always just go to an other hospital or though it out or numb yourself and cut it out like they did in the past?

In no way are some people fragile and need to get home right away when it rains.

Oh dear, the bickering between a select few members continues. 3 post removed. If members have something to contribute then fine, if you want to bang heads then not fine.

The scam that is very common , even in stores like Tesco, is the "Bait and Swap" . For example , the sony DVD player advertised on "special Promotion " for 700 THB. U enquire................ "Sorry........ no have" ! " All sold" blah blah blah !!!!!." But have this Phillips model for 1800 THB .........very good..." Thumbs up action etc. "Falung subooo " as you walk out .

Must be successful as it is so common.

I see this one back home as often as I do here.

Or alternatively get insurance...or two quotes...not exactly difficult to avoid being over-charged. Different doctors and hospitals are different prices....not a scam.

So tourists should buy a car when they visit for one week?

instead of posting a new thread ill continue here. My brother 25 and hes gf will visit Phuket on Thursday and stay in some hotel in patong, its hes first trip to Thailand and i am quite worried about hes safety. hes lived quite well protected life due to hes job and wealthy, as he is will be a tourist there i told him ill drive down and keep an eye out and he said no as he will be with hes gf and we will hangout in Bangkok, and he said he will not carry money around . so respecting hes wishes.

ive never been to Phuket , as i work for a casino in poi-pet im strongly connected in Bangkok and there has been my home since a teenager, but seriously i know nothing about phuket.

i know i might be over reacting and petty crap goes down all the time. but hes my brother and i don't want to see him upset or beyond that.

so any strong advice i can give him or should i still go down and hang around close by?

BTW my cousin love phuket but gets hes dumb ass in to all sorts of trouble. he finds a away to clean it up him self while giving me a headache and making a few calls here and there. so he might make me feel a bit edgy
