Hi guys,

Sorry my 1st post is a question but I've been reading thaivisa for months and (from now) will help out whenever I can.

My problem:

After a tragic family accident I left Thailand right away last year. Took care of my personal stuff but just didn't have the time to bring my workpermit book (the blue one) back.

My school knew that I wouldnt come back soon but they just left it upto me and I left asap to support my family and stay in Europe for a while. I just came back (as a tourist) and my future employer has to sort out papers soon for next semester.

I still have my (expired) permit but not sure if I should bring in the permit and tell the story or just go for step 1 of the process again.

I could have taken care of it in so many ways but I didn't. That's just stupid but reason left me those days...

If anyone who has ever (hear of someone who has) been in this position and can give me some advise..

Thanks

Owen

Your work permit has expired so you will need to start again. You can apply for a new work permit whilst holding a tourist visa, but it will not be issued until you hold a Non-Immigrant visa that allows work. So that the first thing that needs to be taken care of. Your school should be able to provide you with the appropriate papers to enable you to obtain a Non-B visa from a Thai consulate abroad.

When you have your visa, with papers from the school the labour department will issue your work permit. They may require your old work permit back for cancellation, so best to take that with you.
