scott_cos Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 On Sunday, June 6, 2010, at around 12:30 pm, the Phuket Film Festival in conjunction with UNDP will present "Anatomy of a Recovery" a 47 minute film done for the Discovery Channel. The movie is an informative, uplifting look at reconstruction in communities around the Andaman region affected by the tragic Boxer Day Tsunami. The movie particularly focuses on marginalized communities such as women and the poor. A reception will be held after the movie. Please check www.phuketfilmfestival.asia for additional details.
scott_cos Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 More on the benefit event: box-office revenue from the screening will be donated to the Chumchonthai Foundation which is involved in local projects having to do with Urban Community Environmental Activities, Rehabilitation for Environment Effects of Tsunami, Indigenous Livelihood Restoration and Sustainable Ecology for Lanta Island and Support Rehabilitation and Recovery Efforts of Traditional and Sea Gypsy Communities. A reception hosted by UNDP will be held after the screening attended by indigenous Chaolay peoples who will perform tribal dances and sell handicrafts to raise funds for their village.
